Chapter 24: The Woman That Knew Too Much

Author's POV
"That may be right.." Conan whispered

"Or not! I'm just a little kid!" You said noticing Heiji's stare

He looked away and you sighed in relief. "We have to be careful around that Okasa guy...okay Conan-"

You stopped talking when you noticed he wasn't next to you anymore. He was on the ground as his head shifted side to side, as if he was looking for something.

Ran noticed it and bent down slightly, "What are you doing Conan?" She asked as you walked next to Conan

He stood above where the car tires were imprinted on the ground. "Nothing, just looking for-"

He stopped mid-way from his sentence when his and Heiji's head hit each other.

"Oww!" Both Conan and Heiji winced at the impact

You held back your laughter as Conan glared at you while he rubbed his head.

"You too? Are you looking for something?"

"Yes and no! I just wanted to know if he really had the air conditioning on!! But this boy was in my way again!" Heiji yelled pointing at Conan

He paused. 'Again?! During the previous case.. we had hit our heads during the investigation..'

In the previous case, you weren't there but you were able to listen to the case. Clueless Conan didn't notice that you had put a microphone on his back collar and a tracker in his pocket.

He didn't notice it until Heiji pointed it out. But when Heiji saw the microphone, which he nearly crushed it.

"I can't see anything..It's too dark." Conan muttered

"Yeah, you right."

Conan's eyes widened and quickly turned to you. He stood up and held you hand. "You can appear and disappear things right?! Can you make a flashlight?"

Your eye twitched. "What do you think I am!? A witch!?" You yelled as you raised you hand you hit his head but he ducked down

"Well you aren't, but you know magic-"

"Here." Ayako bent down as she lit up a lighter, "And now? Is this better Mr. Detectives?"

"That's very kind if you!" Heiji thanked Ayako for the lighter and started searching along with Conan while you were behind them

"The stars are chatty this evening." Maria uttered as she stared up at the stars. This made you look up as well, "All this is far from ending, they tell me.."

You stared at Maria in confusion. What did she mean by, 'All this is far from ending?'

"But you know I'm often wrong." Maria smiled and looked at the two who were crouched down, "Hurry up or we're going to leave you here!" She yelled loud enough for Heiji and Conan to hear

Everyone went inside and walked towards Hiroyuki's bedroom to claim your phones but as you walked closer, you could hear commotion from inside.

You crouched yourself in and your eyes widened at the sight. All the phones were broken into pieces. The wires and buttons...everything.

"How am I going to explain this to Kaito..." You mumble as you picked up your phone, well half of your phone

Toshiaki gritted his teeth in anger. "AAARGH! We'd better take the other vehicle and leave this place!!" He yelled

"Don't think about it.." Heiji spoke leaning against the door, "That car is unusable! There's no fuel left and the battery is dead.."

Everyone stayed silent until Heiji spoke again.
