Chapter 20: Changes In You

Author's POV
You were in your seat with your head down on the table, obviously still tired from what had happened with Miyano-san. Conan asked a few questions at first but then stopped seeing how uncomfortable and annoyed you were.

You were slowly falling asleep when suddenly the bell rang signaling the school was over. You packed up your books and Conan was waiting quietly next to you.

"Hi!! My name is Ayumi Yoshida!" A cheerful voice said making you and Conan look up

She had brown shoulder length hair with a pink headband, black and pink striped shirt with a white skirt which stood above her knees. And her eyes were sky blue

You and Conan recognized her, she was one of your classes who was sitting if front of the class. Behind her was a tall male. Genta Kojima was his name.

"Do you need anything, Ayumi-san?" You asked as you finished packing up your books

"Well yes actually," She said making you raise a brow, "Would the two of you will like to come with us? We're going ghost busting!"

"Ghost busting..?" Conan repeated with a confused expression

"Don't ask him Ayumi! He can't do anything if we bring him along." Genta said, "But I wouldn't mind if Lilith came along." He said with a dreamy sigh

You held back a laugh and continued listening to Ayumi.

"But we can't just go by the three of us!" Ayumi said with a panicked tone

"So where are these...ghosts?" You asked, obviously not believing the fact that ghosts existed

Ayumi smiled. "You know, the old western-style house on Younchoume!!"

"Younchoume?"

You have heard about it. It was interesting when you first heard of it, but it came into a conclusion that you thought of that as a false rumor.

The owner of the house was killed about 5 years ago. His wife and their child had moved somewhere after that incident. Now, people believe that evil spirits live there. They refer to it as a "Masion of Terror."

Yes it was true that when ever you passed the mansion, you would sometimes hear whispers or someone talking at a very low voice, that you can barely hear what it was saying.

It sent shivers down your spine but you didn't bother to look behind up or to the mansion. You ignored it and made your way back home to Kaito.

Ayumi suddenly screamed in fright making you snap out of your thoughts. A sweat dropped from your forehead seeing how Ayumi quickly changed moods.

"That's all just a made up story."

You all turned you heads to the owner of the voice. Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya. He was sitting down with a science book in his hands.

"There's no such thing, in this age of science. You only see things like ghost and monsters on TV and in manga." Mitsuhiko continued

His comment made Ayumi feel down and her eyes began to tear up. Genta immediately grabbed Mitsuhiko by the collar, slightly lifting him up.

"Are you saying that Ayumi's lying?!" Genta yelled, still grabbing Mitsuhiko by the collar

"N-no, I'm just-"

"Okay, then you're coming with us, to prove there's no ghost in there!!" Genta cutted him off

"What??!! Me too?!" Mitsuhiko exclaimed

"We're not invited you , you're coming with us!!"

While you were watching them argue back and forth, a little sob was heard from your right side. It came from Ayumi who was in verge of tears.

"You believe me, right Conan-kun? Lilith-chan?" Ayumi said maintaining her sobs

"Eh..?"

"Don't you?!" Ayumi yelled

"Y-yeah." Conan responded, but you didn't

You stayed silent over the fact that kids believe that ghost exists. If wizards and magical powers didn't exist these days, then neither do ghosts.

"Alright, after school tomorrow, we five shall lead an assault on the mansion!!" Genta yelled making Ayumi lightened up and yell in such energy

'This is so stupid....'

Y/n's POV

We were all standing in front if the gates of the 'Masion of Terror'. Wearing shorts and a short-sleeved shirt was a bad idea since the wind was hitting my exposed skin.

Not to mention that the broadcast said it was going to rain today
this afternoon.

"Okay everyone! Let's see what you brought!!" Genta suddenly said making me raise a brow

I looked at Conan who also seemed to be in confusion.

"I brought my metal bat," Genta said rasing it up in the air, "To bust the ghost up!!" He added

"I brought snacks!" Ayumi said showing her backpack full of sweets, chips, and other snacks, "For when we're hungry!"

"I brought flashlights for everyone, "Mitsuhiko said handing us one flashlight, "And a compass so we don't get lost."

Genta and Ayumi suddenly turned to us with sparkling eyes. "And what did you guys bring?" Ayumi said with a bright smile

"Uh, we didn't bring anything..." Conan said with an awkward laugh

"We could die in there!!" Genta suddenly yelled

"Yeah!! We could be killed if we go in unprepared!!" Ayumi yelled

I got startled by the sudden yelling which made me take a step back. Both Ayumi and Genta had a shocked yet apologetic expression.

Even I was shocked that a stumbled backwards over someone yelling.

"Sorry Lilith-chan, we didn't mean to scare you." Genta said looking down at the concrete floor

"No no, it's fine. You didn't scare me, it was probably the wind. It looks like it about to rain." I responded, making an excuse for it

I let out a shaky sigh seeing myself change. How come I now get scared over some yelling? Kaito won't be pleased if he finds out about it.
