Chapter 20

While they were travelling back to their lot, they received a call from his sister. By the sound of it, she was feeling nervous. 'Abhi... Abhimanyu... your jij... jiju... wo...' and she started sobbing which turned into wailing. 'Di, what happened? What happened to jiju? Just tell me where you both are now... I'll be heading there now.' 'We are still in Kallar.' 'We are coming, di.' By saying so, they headed to Kallar. On the other hand, Nidhi was all aghast seeing her husband's expressions. He was all tensed and drained. 'What happened, Abhimanyu? What did di say?' 'She desperately needs me there.' was the only words he uttered. She could sense the tension in the ambience and hope for everyone's well-being. She didn't fail to notice his trembling hand, she held to pass her strength and support which he gladly accepted.

'You know, theirs was a love marriage. Both families weren't in favour of their relationship. Jiju's family very much despised north Indians and my family wasn't received well of their relationship because jiju was only a fresher in the business world. However, they stood strong and got married without their families consent. I was the only one who supported them and I was one of the witnesses of their marriage. My dad was enraged but I managed to convince him, yet I was unable to convince him to accept them. After 5 years of their marriage, they were blessed with twin boys and eventually, both families started to soften up. All the while, I was the middle man passing every shred of information back and forth.' He smiled while reminiscing the past.

'Jiju and I are always more than brothers. We are best buddies. We always lean on each other. Even my sister knows how close we are. There are many secrets that even my sister doesn't know about us. Trust me the moment he sees me, he will find out of I have done. But he won't say anything about it to my sister till I decide to mention it.' Suddenly a lone tear escaped from his eye. 'He will be fine na, Pari?' 'You said he is your best buddy, so he would definitely be there to scram you and also to support you.' She squeezed his hands and he hugged her for more emotional support.

After a good 30 minutes of the journey, they finally reached their destination. When Nidh inquired about Radhika and her husband, some of the locals say they were fetched to the nearby hospital for further treatment. Not knowing the reason, they departed to the mentioned hospital to know what had happened. On the way to the hospital, Abhimanyu asked, Nidhi to clean her face and hide their marital symbols which she did at the instant. She took off the wedding chain and hid it in her purse. She felt bad for doing so, but she is not ready to face anyone yet. Therefore, she silently obliged what he said.       

When they went inside to inquire about his brother-in-law, Nidhi saw his sister and dragged him along to meet her. When Radhika saw them, she quickly ran to him and hugged him as her life depended on him. Nidhi was the one who broke the silence and asked, 'Di, what happened? What's wrong with brother-in-law? Why are you guys here?' 'Actually, we were getting ready to explore the place more, when suddenly a girl barged in our tent saying she was being chased by some local goons. By the time, we wanted to hide her somewhere, the goons barged into our tent and started to drag the girl out. When we tried to stop them, one of the goons pushed me down and the leader stabbed him twice. Luckily, one of the tourists managed to call the police and they arrested the goons and the girl is saved, At least for now. When I called you, I was at the hospital's reception where they refused to treat him owing to the fact it was a police case. Thankfully, one of the police constables who accompanied us helped to get him treated immediately. The doctors said he has lost so much blood and he needs blood and...' 

Before Radhika finished her sentence, Nidhi said, 'Di, I will donate the blood. Tell the doctor to start procedures.' 'Are you sure?' 'I am very sure because right now Abhimanyu can't donate his blood as he is under medications. So I will do it.' Saying that she walked to the emergency room to inform the nurse about donating her blood. She was immediately taken inside to donate blood. After a while when she was about to go out, the doctor inquired about her bond with Mr Sudeep which she answered that he is her brother. He also informed her that he was now out of danger, but still unconscious. The doctor said he will be awake in 2 to 3 hours time. She went out and informed them what the doctor said. They took a breath of relief after listening to her. Radhika hugged and thanked Nidhi again and again for helping them when they were in need.

Abhimanyu was very grateful and proud of his wife. When they were alone in the corridor, he hugged her tightly and kissed her forehead again and again. 'Thank you, wifey. You are indeed a Pari, my Pari. Thanks for helping di and thanks for saving jiju.' 'Oh hello, sir. The doctors saved him, I just donated a little bit of my blood, that's all.' He smiled broadly listening to her which gave tingles to her heart. He again hugged her and said, 'I love you, wifey. More than anyone could imagine. All the time I thought I was possessive about you, but today I realised I am obsessed with you. You are my life, my precious possession, and a very beautiful obsession. I will be saying this again and again, without a fail, so get used to it. I love you, Jaan... I love you so much.' Saying that he kissed her passionately on the lips. She blushed profusely to his new endearment and reciprocated the kiss with equal passion.
