After 2 months of that incident, everything went back to normal and Ridhi and I were also doing good. She apologized the next day to me about her ill behaviour saying that she was stressed over her work and stuff. Even though it wasn't convincing, yet I let it go because I thought that was best for our relationship and I didn't want to prolong the fight over some petty issues. Meanwhile, my teammate Karan was warning me about her activities and behaviour because he thinks she is doing something behind my back. I brushed the thought as I told Karan maybe he is overthinking. I called her in the afternoon to ask about her day and family.
While talking to me she said they're on the way to Pune jail. When I asked her, she said 'Abhi... wo... actually Nidhi is there...and....' I cut her off before she completed. 'What happened? Why is she in prison? What crime did she commit? Look, I can help you to sort....' And now she cut me off and laughed like a maniac. 'Oh Abhi! Chill man... Nidhi usually goes there thrice a week for counselling sessions with prisoners. Have you forgotten that she is a junior Criminal Psychologist who is still practising?' the reality hit me then, and I asked if so, why are they going there. I am pretty definite they are not simply visiting her there. When I enquired, she said, 'Nidhi had a gastric problem and this time her pain was rather severe where she fainted during her sessions ongoing... so, the jailer called and informed us about it...Papa and mama couldn't withstand that... so, here we are on the way to Pune.'' where is she now? Is she okay?' 'she has gained her conscious. They have in-house duty doctors there. They have treated her. Actually, she forbade us from coming, but my parents are more stubborn than us.' She said controlling her laugh.
She continued saying 'you all are overreacting, especially you, Abhi... you're epic... my god...' and she continued to laugh like a maniac again. However, for some unknown weird reasons, I felt relieved that Nidhi is fine and safe. When I met Nidhi for the first time after my accident, I promised myself I will protect her like how I protect my family. After all, she is family. While I was still talking to her, I received some messages from an unknown number.
Unknown: She is cheating on you. She is staying with you only for fame.
Unknown: She is seeing someone behind you. Trust me!!! She will GO AWAY when she is sick tired of you.
Unknown: I am not your enemy; I am your well-wisher... so please don't ignore my messages.
I could feel eyes turning bloodshot red reading those messages. I hung the phone after a while holding another phone. I quickly called another teammate Rudra and asked him to trace the number. I was clearly pissed after seeing an array of pictures of Ridhi with another guy.
Unknown:
However, I stayed positive because I know Ridhi. She is friendly and carefree. She has a big bucket list of common friends to hang out with and chill and he could be one of them, but on the other hand, I was rather confused because I have seen all of her friends but not this one. I know that Ridhi's friends' circle encompasses from model to elites. All of them are posh people. And looks like one, too. While I was driving back home, my phone buzzed again with a message from an unknown number.
Unknown:
My heart wrecked seeing those pictures. But when I got the message from Rudra about the unknown number, I was utterly shocked. Why would someone do that? Keeping things to myself, I went to Kuwait for a case and I thought to discuss it with Ridhi once I am back. I knew this needed to be sorted out soon.
However, having some good knowledge of Arabic, helped me to survive in gulf countries. I speak Arabic near-native level, so using it during the court session wasn't difficult for me. As expected, the final verdict was in favour of my client and the sheikh was saved from lifetime imprisonment and few Cannings. Rape and murder charges were removed and he was declared innocent. I got my payment for winning the case, too. He promised to pay me a huge amount of about 4 million American Dollars and he did.
I had another big case on business fraudulent in Kuwait itself and its hearing and final judgment was done on the same day but in a different region. He is also a Sheikh who owns multiple businesses around Middle and South Asia and also in Europe. He was accused of business fraudulent and charged for the brutal murder of his business partner. Having a great team around Asia, helped me to crack the case easily. Again, I won and this time the pay was 5 million dollars. With that, I can rest at least for a month.
