Nidhi's POV

'Di... di... di... please open the door before I break it... Hurry up! We need to go to the hospital.' 'Why?' 'Abhi... Abhimanyu... he met with an accident. He is fighting for his life.' 'So, what do you expect me to do? Staying there and wait for him like there's no tomorrow?' 'di your would-be husband is in the hospital and your in-laws need your support right now... why are you behaving like this? Are you out of your mind?' 'Listen Nidhi, if you want you can go. I am not stopping you.' 'We need to talk di. And we are definitely going to have a talk about it. Whether you like it or not, but surely after my visit to the hospital.' Saying that I left for the hospital.

When I reached there, I saw his whole family grieving over his condition. The doctor told us to be prepared for any possibilities. Outside the hospital, the media was making their breaking news of the accident of the world-famous criminal lawyer. It was a total blunder. No one noticed my presence there till his elder sister bumped into me. The moment she saw me, she hugged me tight and started to weep terribly. I tried to put a strong façade so that I could calm the others, however, seeing her being so vulnerable didn't help me much as my eyes started tearing. After a while, she composed herself and asked about my di to which I had to lie that she's stuck up with work and she will come once she's done with it. Though his parents seemed to be a bit hesitant about it, Abhimanyu's sister and brother-in-law made them understand di's responsibilities as a doctor, and they seemed to buy that excuse later.

Minutes turned into hours when one of the doctors came out of the OT and said he's stable for now and further reports only could be assessed after 24 hours of observation. They needed more affirmation if there are any internal damages are done. So far, they updated that he had a broken arm and legs which would be treated once the wounds healed. And till then he has to be bedridden for at least 3 months. Though it wasn't something very pleasant we managed to breathe in relief. At least something is better than nothing. Then only we realised that we were holding our breaths. But that wasn't bad because there was something worse awaited for them, which shook everyone to the core.

After 24 hours, we were briefed more on his health report. While going through that, luckily di joined us to everybody's surprise and Abhimanyu's parents were happy to finally see their to-be daughter in law. According to the doctor, Abhimanyu has lost his eyesight due to heavy injuries on the back of his head and forehead, and he wouldn't have any eye transplant surgeries until his internal injuries are healed. Then only, he will be tested for the possibility of having any eye surgeries. It initially shattered everyone, but we managed to compose ourselves. Throughout the explanations, I didn't fail to notice di's inner turmoil. By the looks, I knew something big is cooking up in her head. Before she does something big, I have to stop her. Therefore, before she left the cabin, I asked her to meet me in person. I really hoped we could put a full stop to whichever turmoil she is going through.

But alas, Ridhi is not at all Ridhi if she handles something with calm and tactful. I was very afraid of where she is going to bring our both families' relation. As for my parents, relations, pride and dignity matter the most. They at times behave like typical desi parents but they are the best. I was afraid the decisions that my sister is taking in haste would tarnish my parents' reputation. After being quiet for some time, she finally stated that she's not interested in the alliance. She was practically contemplating calling off the marriage.

'Nidhi, I can't force myself in such bound. I know you and everyone is going to say that marriage is sacred and stuff like that, but I felt suffocated with the thought of getting married to Abhimanyu. My life and the world don't revolve around him only. I have my life, my dreams to be achieved. I have a beautiful life ahead which I don't wish to ruin for Abhi.' Saying I was shocked is an understatement, I actually was gobsmacked. Her words were calm and clearly picked showing her decision crystal clear. It wasn't referred in any haste, in fact, the words she uttered were calmer and more collected. It sounded as though she decided to go against everyone for a long time now.

Composing myself I tried to reason with my sister. 'di.. this is wrong. You're leaving him in the middle while he'll need your support utmost. Don't be so cruel to him, di. Please don't break him. He needs you di... the family needs you. You both have come long way di... don't give up on him halfway di, please... I beg you. At least think about both families. Whatever issues you both have; we can sort it out once he's fully healed. Wo tuth jayega, di... (he will break emotionally)' I was literally begging my sister to not be harsh and mean to him. My tears were falling shamelessly. I saw her eyes soften a moment, but she masked it very well and said, 'Nidhi, it's over between me and him. Yeh sach kitni jaldi tum our baki log accept karenge, utni hi behter hain.'(It'll be better if you and the others accept the fact sooner). With that, she walked out of the room. I was shocked to the core and I felt like my head was hit on a giant iceberg.
