Chapter 35

After 3 weeks...

Abhimanyu was happy because finally, justice prevailed. He made sure those imbecile pricks sentenced what they deserved. He made sure that they don't see the sunlight for the rest of their lives. The accused were sentenced to life imprisonment. He was really a strong opponent to the defense lawyer. He rested the case only after making sure the accused spit every heinous thing they did to Nidhi and others. Abhimanyu submitted every solid proof in the court to get them punished. The defense lawyer was astounded by Abhimanyu's aggression in prosecuting the case. He had seen a total cunning beast in Abhimanyu while prosecuting his clients. He couldn't fathom what was going on in Abhimanyu's mind as he was stacking up solid shreds of evidence against the accused. When they were dragged by the police, Abhimanyu neared them and said menacingly, 'you made a mistake by touching what's mine. You and your family dared to touch my wife Nidhi and I throw you to the hell hole, but that's not all about... the worst is yet to come.' And he walked off from the fuming people. The defense lawyer later understood Abhimanyu's menacing intention over his clients. That shuddered him and he made a mental note not to cross paths with Abhimanyu.

Nidhi came home 2 weeks ago and she was received happily and with love by her in-laws. She was overwhelmed by their gestures. Abhimanyu still remembered how she cried thanking him for giving her such a nice family when all of them sided Nidhi. He chuckled remembering how even a simple gesture makes overwhelmed and satisfied. And he definitely loves her for her bubbly nature. Simple and innocent. Sensible and smart. He was really contented when she returned home with him. Every day he returns home happy because he has a pregnant wife waiting for him at home. He feels that he is having a nice day every day. At night, he holds her in his possessive and protective grip. He runs errands at home with her. He spends quality time with her, speaking and engaging her in his every activity. He entertains all her cravings, even her weird and unusual midnight cravings. He managed her mood swings well. All in all his dream of seeing her in the swollen belly with his child and entertaining all her pregnancy cravings and mood swings become true. He was glad that he married her and she is expecting their babies. He couldn't ask for more. 

He has been an attentive husband. He detects even a slight change of her expression. His protective nature kicks in most of the time. He never lets her do anything alone. She is always escorted by him wherever she moves. Nidhi understands his protective nature, but this time it irks her to the core that she has to trick him with some other tasks so that she could move freely without his clutch. Every morning he carries her while descending the stairs. He even set a room downstairs for her to sit leisurely and rest. In the evening after their dinner, he will carry her back to their room. He knows she feels annoyed, but he won't compromise with her safety measures as she is not alone, but there are two more lives in her. He accompanies her to every antenatal check-up. He keeps track of her and their babies' health. Her health improved in these couple of weeks. She seemed to be more contented and relieved. Now Nidhi is relieved that her Abhimanyu has accepted her and he won't separate their children from her. She has also understood that he is a great father to their children. It has been his habit to speak to their babies before bed. He reads stories to them and recites holy chants to them.

The doctor initially had informed them that there is a higher tendency for her to go early labour than the expected days. They were ready to face it even if that's what the future had stored for them. Their maternity bags for both baby and mother was ready long ago. And the couple was ready to welcome their munchkins anytime soon. Happy, contentment, satisfaction was all they felt at the moment, and they cherished every moment together. Everything was going as per their wish, but unknown to them there is another blow waiting for them which they have to pass. A catastrophe that demands his wife's life. He would trade the world for her, but he wouldn't let her go; not even to death.
