Abhimanyu's POV
When I got to know about Nidhi being my donor, I was shocked and taken aback. I felt really remorseful for everything I did to her. I felt disgusted about myself. 'How much will you sacrifice, Nidhi. Enough of sacrificing and running away. I am sorry... I really am. Please come back to me. It is my payback time. I will take very good care of you.' This is the only thing I murmur every time I hold her picture. It seems I blabber the same even in my sleep. I just want her back. I remember she said she will be my eyes and she proved it. I have messed up big time. I don't know where my Nidhi is... I don't know how she survives... but I know my wife is a strong woman. She is a fighter... still I am worried, afraid and desperate about her wellbeing, her safety. While thinking about her, one of my colleagues came and inform me that Mr Sharma came to meet me. I vaguely have some ideas why he is here, but it would be better to hear from him. I asked him to send my father-in-law in. 'Welcome, uncle! Finally, I am able to see you. How are you?' My voice laced with little sarcasm. Instead, he straight away posed a direct question. 'Why did you reject Ridhi?' 'She rejected me first if you realise. Which I am sure you did. That is why you let your younger daughter be an imposter. Am I right?' His face drained but he composed in a jiffy. Just like Pari... like father, like daughter.
'Don't talk about that scoundrel to me. She tainted my family honour. She is a tainted rag who carried don't know which bastard's baby.' If I said I was shocked it would be an understatement. He felt like his whole body was thundering. But he managed to come around and asked, 'what do you mean she is pregnant? If she is then how did she become my donor?' 'Oh, so you knew... Well, she was way too adamant to be the donor though all of us opposed it. She became the donor and she started to become sick frequently a few days after her surgery. When she found out she had two of her fetuses died. She was conceived with quadruplets but two of them died. Her mother and her sister tried to convince her to abort it, but the stubborn prick she is denied. I was really enraged and gave her two options: abort the baby or leave the house and her rights as my daughter. I really thought she would choose the former, but she chose the latter. Hence, she was kicked out of the house.' He said with much anger and disappointment. Abhimanyu was very angry with her family, but he can't totally blame them as they didn't know the whole truth. 'So tell me now? Why you rejected her this time?' 'I have solid proof of her infidelity and her second pregnancy, father-in-law. You knew she was pregnant before my accident and she aborted the baby? I have a proof for that, too. Even your daughter admitted that to me and she wanted to call off the wedding.' His father-in-law was shocked and Abhimanyu continued, 'this time again her so-called partner, Amar, with whom she is in live-in-relationship in Bengaluru, doesn't want to take the responsibility. Therefore, she was looking for a scapegoat to cover her dirty job and she used her manipulative mind by using the I-looked-after-you-all-the-while ace card to trap me. I am not bound to take care of other people's responsibility.' His father-in-law was ashamed as he hung his face low. He understood Abhimanyu neither joking nor lying.
Suddenly his father-in-law did the unthinkable. He held Abhimanyu's hand and begged, 'I am sorry for whatever my daughter did, son. But please don't say you can't marry her.' 'Father-in-law, I definitely can't marry your elder daughter.' 'Why are you saying so. See... my daughter looked after you, right?' 'Correction, Sasurji... your youngest daughter did it... Shouldn't I supposedly marry her? Moreover, sasurji, Indian law doesn't permit polygamy under Hindu marital section... you should know this better.' 'What? Are you married??? How? I mean when?' 'Long story short, sasurji... I got married in Kerala and I just found out that my wife is pregnant.' He muttered the last part slowly. His father-in-law felt defeated and started to walk out of his office. Before leaving, his father-in-law just turned and said, 'stay happy, son. She is one lucky girl.' 'Thank you, sasurji!' 'Son, I am not your father-in-law anymore. You are not married to my daughter, Ridhi.' He chuckled sadly. Looking at his sasurji, he had his famous lopsided smirk on his face. Mr Sharma was confused looking at Abhimanyu. 'You're still my sasurji... It is true that I didn't and couldn't marry Ridhi...' 'Then how am I still your sasurji?' Abhimanyu's smirk widens and said, 'you're still my sasurji because I am married to Nidhi Shar... oops sorry... my wife is Mrs Nidhi Abhimanyu Chatterjee and we have been married almost for a year now.'
Mr Sharma felt something collapsing in him. Nidhi was all the while married, but she didn't say anything. Lone tears cascaded in his eyes but he still felt these two are the culprits of their family's separation. He took long strides to Abhimanyu and held his collar, 'how dare you? how could you do this to us?' Abhimanyu loosened Mr Sharma's grip from his collar and said 'I would have answered you if you had my wife with you but unfortunately you threw her out of your life and house during her vulnerable state. You act inhumane and cut all ties with her, therefore, I am not answerable to you and you don't have the rights to talk about me or my wife.' Mr Sharma understood his mistake. If only he let Nidhi speak that day, he would have not complied with his brother to kill his own daughter and she would have not disappeared. He felt horrible and he detested himself for behaving like the worst father. The daughter he has been calling his pride did the shameful deed, and the daughter he abandoned was all the while an innocent soul who endured everything alone. 'Now you tell me! Where is my wife? She is pregnant and she is stranded somewhere alone. No one knew about her. She is enduring everything alone when she needs her family the most.' Mr Sharma stayed quiet for a while and said, 'I seriously have no idea where she has gone... it's been three months since I spoke to her. She just vanished...' His throat cracked when he said that. 'Maybe Ridhi would have some idea about it as she sometimes speaks to their childhood friends Armeena and her husband.'
Let me clear one thing to you, Mr Sharma, agar usko kuch hua na toh main sabko barbaadh kardongi... Meri biwi ke liye main mar bhi saktha hun aur maar bhi saktha hun... main aage peeche sochungi nahi...(I will destroy everyone if anything happened to her... I can kill and I can die for my wife... I won't think much about it...) You can go, Mr Sharma. He dismissed his father-in-law abruptly. Now Abhimanyu's worries doubled as his blind pregnant wife went missing and untraceable. He really hoped he could get a clue about his wife. He desperately needs her now. Again tears pricked in his eyes.
Mr Sharma saw Abhimanyu's lone tears and he sensed his vulnerability and fear of losing Nidhi. He understood how much Abhimanyu is in love with his daughter. He saw the love, pain, fear, adoration and madness in his eyes when she speaks about Nidhi. Mr Sharma knew Abhimanyu will go to any extent to safeguard his daughter. He was sad but he was happy, too. Sad because of a miscommunication he abandoned his precious daughter, the daughter and grandchildren that he wanted to wipe off forever. He thought of her as a tainted rag, a pariah. He was happy that she got a husband who is willing to do anything for her. Now all he could do is just to pray for her safety and wellbeing. Moreover, he doesn't know how to face her if he sees her. He is remorseful for his actions and he will repent them till his last breath.
