Chapter 22

Vince's POV

My heart freezes over in my chest at Leo's words. A death sentence? Why would she die over a flashdrive? She could always run.

"No, don't tell me. I want to hear it from Allegra" My voice comes out as barely a whisper.

"Vince, you don't actually believe her? It's not like Sharon can kill her, she can run at any time" Octavia's voice rings out with a laugh and she looks at the gun that is aimed towards her head.

"Except that's the exact situation. So how about this, you all help Allegra and I won't pull the trigger." Leo looks me in the eyes while he takes the safety off of his gun.

"How about this, you all put your guns down and leave." Allegra's eyes don't meet anyone else's own.

She just stares at the floor.

She's vulnerable. Maybe even broken.

First she had to deal with Malachi, now this? I already killed him for her, even got rid of her tape. I bombed his compound, but she already knew that. "Roman, Ace..... guns down" I order and they comply. Leo then looks at them before putting his own away too.

"So what? You are so weak that you will just let Sharon kill you?" Octavia challenges looking at Allegra.

"I have an electrical implant in my spine that she controls. She electrocuted me yesterday night and it's the reason why I'm so weak. I have to do what she says. Which includes attempting to kill you all if you don't leave in the next five minutes." Allegra mumbles and Octavia backs down quickly with regret from what she said.

My heart continues to beat faster at the realization that she will in fact die if we take this flash drive.

"Give the flashdrive back" My voice breaks and Roman looks at me.

"No" Roman stands facing me.

"No, Vince is right, there are other ways to achieve our goal I'll give it back" Octavia says, stepping towards me but Ace pulls her back to avoid Roman's attempt to take it from her.

"Do you want her to die or something?" Ace shouts at Roman but Allegra and I frown realizing his frustration.

He HAS to choose between Amelia and Allegra.

"Of course not." He turns facing Allegra. "You know why I can't let you have it right? I can't.... I can't lose her... Even if that means I have to lose you" Allegra nods in understanding as everyone else stands confused.

"It's okay."Allegra smiles at him and the adoration is clear on her face. "Go and save her..... Keep her safe." She slowly walks towards him with a single tear on her cheek and she hugs him.

"Who are you talking about? Who is so important that you have to let her die?"Ace's frustration comes out and Octavia also doesn't understand.

"That's selfish... Even for you" Octavia voices and Leo immediately understands the situation.

"Not selfish, it's love" Leo mumbles before backing away.

At that moment my phone vibrates and I take a look at it. A message from the person who has helped us from the start. The boss. I have never seen him, but the information is reliable and he never asks for anything in return. A good deal if you ask me.

The message reads. "There are two flash drives. Take the second one from the basement office."

It's as if he was watching us, or knew this was going to happen. I pause showing Roman the message and he sighs in relief.

"Good news, there are two flash drives." He whispers in Allegra's ear as Ace and Octavia continue making a fuss.

"Let's go." I order as I take the flashdrive from Octavia and put it in Allegra's hand. Roman and I run to the basement and Octavia and Ace get everything ready.

As we come back up I spot Leo standing at the front door.

"Thank you....for taking care of her all this time. I guess I owe you now?" I speak and he just nods, opening the door.

"Pay me back by helping her. I will contact you at the appropriate time." He says before closing the door after we are outside.

Maybe adrenaline is still in my system, or maybe it's the fact that I'm scared to lose the one person I love more than anything.

Allegra Stone. Please don't die. I need you.
