Chapter 34

Allegra's POV

I'm falling apart inside. It's been two weeks since Roman died and I feel so dead inside. Everything has been quiet and maybe that's for the best.

Walking out of my room I see Allison walking towards me.

"Hey" I mumble, freezing noticing the gun in her hand. "What are you doing?" She raises it up to me aiming for my head and I raise my hands up in surrender.

"I hate you, your life is so damn perfect" she spits at me and I almost want to laugh. Perfect? So far from it.

"You took my family, you got the pretty boy, you got freedom, everyone loves you and I hate it" she goes on.

"Allison put the gun down, you don't know what you're talking about." I reason.

"No. No. You think I'm crazy" she shakes her head frantically while laughing. "I'm not crazy. You deserved to die. I have always been the better daughter" her voice gets louder and I start to back up toward the table in the hall that I know has another gun inside.

Not crazy huh? I'm not the one holding a fucking gun on you for no reason you psychotic bitch.

"I didn't say you were crazy." I am starting to believe it now though.

"I never said I was the better daughter. I didn't take anything from you. It just sounds like you're jealous of me" I shrug and start to back up more.

She isn't mentally stable. She will pull that trigger and I need to defend myself. I probably shouldn't have said she was jealous.

That was a bad idea, but I never had a filter, did I?

"You don't know anything about me" she screams which I'm sure catches the attention of everyone on this floor and downstairs.

"Allison put the gun down, we can talk this through" I shout at her and she starts to laugh hysterically.

"Remember when you told me that..... if I wasn't your sister you would kill me. Because....... Octavia is your real sister right? We share the same blood in our veins and I hate that. I want you dead."

"I'm sorry I was a bitch to you. Ok? You are my sister and I want us to have a relationship" at this point I'm lying to save my own ass. No way am I going to do anything with her after this.

"No, it's too late for that".

"Allison put the gun down" I hear Alicia's voice as my family stands behind her.

"No..... I don't think I will. I think I liked competing with a dead girl. It was easier to keep your attention." She mumbles taking the safety off.

"Allison stop" my family pleads with her as I see Octavia and Vince walk behind Allison slowly.

She turns around swiftly pointing the gun at them.

"Stay back! I will kill you" she screams and they both step back cautiously.

It gives me enough time to grab the second gun and hide it behind my back.

Turning back around she shoots next to my foot on the floor telling me to stay put and I do. I take the safety off and the click echoes in the hallway as everyone goes quiet.

"What was that?" She asks.

"Nothing. Nothing, I accidentally cracked a bone. From my surgery? You know?" I lie again and that's when she aims for my head once more pulling the trigger four times.

Closing my eyes tightly I feel nothing. Am I still alive?

Nothing hurts. Was this a peaceful death?

Opening my eyes slowly I see a large back at level with my face. He's the same height as..... Leo.

No, Leo no. He stumbles back and falls as I catch him in my arms. I watch as Allison raises her gun again but I shoot her first aiming to kill.

One bullet in the middle of her eyebrows and her lifeless body drops to the floor.

Turning back to Leo I let a tear run down my face.

"Why would you do that?" I whisper as I hold his head in my lap.

"Because....i- I love.. I love you Allegra- Allegra Stone" he stutters and I see blood appear on his lips. His grey eyes look up into mine and he smiles as he struggles to breathe.

"I can't lose you. Please. I love you." I say the three words confidently and my heart hurts that this is the first time I've said it.

"Take care...of yourself... and.. survive, fin-ish what we started" he speaks slower and he rests his hand on top of mine.

Leaning down I kiss his lips one more time as more tears run down my face.

"Please don't leave me" I cry to him and he looks up to me as he says his final words.

"I have no choice love"

"Nooooo" I scream into his chest as my whole body shakes. My throat tightens and my chest has an unbearable pressure in it.

No. No. No.

"I love you. I love you so much Leo. We were supposed to be together. It wasn't supposed to end like this." The words slip past my lips as my fingers grip his shirt tightly.

I was never supposed to lose you.

I look up at everyone who stares at me in pity. My father stares at Allison's body and my mother sits against the wall with her chin rested on her knees.

Octavia stands still just staring at Leo's body that I'm holding on to so tightly.

Vince watches me break down and eventually leaves in a hurry.

I thought Leo was the one. I thought this was my happily ever after.

This was supposed to be me finally finding happiness. This was supposed to be my future.

I look at his grey irises once more remembering the exact color and shade before closing his eyes.

My hair is wet with blood from laying on top of his chest.

I was trying to listen for a heart beat but all I could hear was a void chest cavity.

I remember how his heartbeat sounded from all those nights I spent sleeping on his chest.

Leaning up I touch his face.

"I can't hear you" I whisper referring to his heart.

More tears fly down my cheeks as my brother finally lifts me off of him and carries me into a bathroom. He helps wash the blood off of my hands and legs.

Warm water from the shower cleans the blood off of my clothes and out of my hair.

My tears mix with the water making it impossible to tell the difference.

He died for me. It was supposed to be me, not him. Allison was right. I do deserve to die. I'm a horrible person, but Leo made me feel loved.

He made me feel normal. He made me feel something other than pain and he will forever own my heart for that.

Because I love him for infinity. ♾
