Lilah's POV
******EIGHTEEN YEAR TIME SKIP *******
My twin brother and I have always looked out for each other. We both miss our parents and would sometimes watch some videos they took together before they both died. Our father died before we were born and our mother died a year ago.
I inherited my mother's eyes while my brother inherited my fathers.
Amelia's parents are dead as well. The only thing left is uncle Ace and Alicio, a wooden box filled with pictures and flash drives and some really old journals. There are six in total.
I've read each one over a million times.
After a while Uncle Ace gave us another one and Uncle Alicio gave us one. So it became eight in total.
After we went through them we made a book out of it putting each of their thoughts in chronological order. They called themselves the original six. My parents had been through a lot with their friends.
I wanted to tell their story, and them writing their whole life down was the perfect way for us to gather information.
Ace and Alicio were all we had left after our parents died. And then they died too.
In the end, no one truly survives do they?
All that's left is Amelia, Leo and I. My twin brother and I are eighteen and Amelia just turned twenty one last month.
Everyone's death has been the hardest on her. Sometimes she talks about how she remembers the day her dad died. She thought she imagined it. That it was something her mind made up to cope with being fatherless.
But after reading all of the journals, specifically Vince's own and they way he explained Romans death she was devastated. She wasn't dreaming and she actually remembers it.
Losing mom for us was even more devastating. She was sick for a while.
No one could figure out what was wrong. Uncle Ace told us that sometimes mental pain turns physical and kills us from the inside out. At first I didn't get it but now I understand.
She missed her friends so much. She missed her parents and she missed Leo. She missed the boy that made her happy. It's unfortunate that it cost her life, but I get it.
Some things can't be helped and she was a great mother. She never failed to tell us how much she and our dad loved us. She gave us everything we needed and literally gave us the world.
We were left with the biggest inheritance. An inheritance that we would trade for the all the lives that were lost to get it.
Amelia, Leo and I live together in Italy now. That's where my dad was from. It's also where he met my mom. Their story is a beautiful one and I can only hope to find love like that one day.
