The caffeine from her coffee was not enough to keep her awake after Hoseok called her as promised. Sunhee was fighting off sleep until she dozed off on her couch with the TV on. She changed the bedcovers. That was after she finished taking out the mixer and heaved it on the kitchen counter. It was heavy and she still felt guilty from throwing up at Hoseok after bringing the mixer all the way to her home. It was red, her favourite colour, and she can't wait to start using it.

The doorbell rang and jerked Sunhee up from her sleep. The sun was already up and it was 9.15 a.m. She rubbed her eyes as she went to the door. She wasn't expecting anyone today. The doorbell rang again. Whoever it was at the door, the person was impatient, thought Sunhee. She ran her fingers through her hair before going to the intercom camera. She was shocked and happy at the same time to see who it was.

"Eomma?"

"Surprise Sunhee-ya!" exclaimed her mom. "Now, open the door. I brought so many things for you and my hands are going dead. It's heavy."

Sunhee opened the door quickly and hugged her mom really hard. "I didn't know you were coming," she said. "I would have picked you up at the station if I know," said Sunhee, knowing full well her mom preferred the train to Seoul more than anything else.

"It won't be a surprise if I tell you," her mom admonished Sunhee. "Nice house," she commented as she walked into the apartment. "Here, take this. I brought some kimchi and other side dishes for you. Your grandmother made some of your favourites too."

"Awww, I love you so much, eomma," said Sunhee happily, hugging her mom tight. She took the containers from her mom and brought them inside.

"Baek Sunhee," her mom changed her tone all of a sudden and Sunhee froze in mid-stride.

She knew that meant trouble.

"Who the heck gave you those hickeys?" she asked.

Sunhee closed her eyes and blood drained out of her face. She knew her mom didn't see the one under her ear, she didn't tie her hair up. She looked down. Damn her big neckline shirt. Her mom could see everything when she leaned down to take the food containers.

Sunhee could feel the impending doom coming her way.
