"Hello Sunhee-ssi," greeted Younha from the door of the private ward.
"Younha! Come on in," said Sunhee from her bed. "Eomma, meet my friend, Kim Younha. She's also in charge of Haewon eunnie's wedding."
"Nice to meet you," said Sunhee's mom warmly.
"Here, I got you your favourite cake from the café we go to," said Younha passing Sunhee the box. She then stopped mid-way. "Wait a minute, can you eat this?"
Sunhee just took the box. "Of course, I could. I'm not sick. I was just in shock," Sunhee looked at the cake happily before turning to Younha. "Thank you so much for this and for coming here. Come, sit down."
"I was really surprised to hear about what happened from Haewon-ssi. I'm really glad you're fine," said Younha as she sat before she was interrupted by another voice from the door.
"Sunhee-ya!" exclaimed Haewon as she rushed to Sunhee at the bed.
Sunhee rolled her eyes at Haewon's dramatic entrance and hugged Haewon. "Eunnie, cut the theatrics," said Sunhee.
"I have the right to be dramatic. You were crazy yesterday!" said Haewon and Sunhee immediately signed for Haewon to cut off the conversation.
"Good afternoon, eomonim," bowed Haewon to Sunhee's mom who was peeling off the apple. "Hi, Younha!"
The whole staff of the bakery was trailing after Sunhee and they immediately flanked by Sunhee's bed. They greeted Younha, Sunhee, and her mom, and gave Sunhee a big fruit basket. Dowon and Sehun whistled in appreciation as they saw the size and the furnishing of the VIP room.
"Good afternoon, Haewon-ah," returned Sunhee's mom. "Sorry, I haven't congratulate you for your engagement."
"No worries eomonim. You're definitely invited to the wedding. You have to come" said Haewon.
"Of course I would. Anyway, what really happened yesterday? Hoseok only said that a crazy guy broke into the bakery and Sunhee fought him off."
"It wasn't just a crazy guy, Miss Kim. It was my soon to be ex who broke in," supplied Choi Yong without any trace of emotion.
"How are you Choi Yong-ssi? You looked unaffected by what happened yesterday," pointed Sunhee.
"I'm okay. I only have pity and hate left for him and I'm glad he was finally caught. Other than that, I was only a bystander when I was tied to the chair. You did all the hard work when he tried to stab you, sajangnim," said Choi Yong.
Sunhee's mom looked at Choi Yong in disbelief and then turned to Sunhee. "Choi Yong's ex tried to stab you?" asked her mom. Sunhee immediately took the knife her mom was holding and passed it to Haewon. She didn't know what Hoseok told her mom and she figured it wasn't about Hojun's attempt to kill her. She was afraid her mom might freak out and blow off at any minute.
"You don't have to worry, Miss Kim. Sajangnim here knocked that guy down. She was so cool in the surveillance when she pulled that off," supplied Sehun doing the same hammering motion that Sunhee did to Hojun. Both Sehun and Haewon had known Sunhee's mom for years and they were already acquainted.
Sunhee sent Sehun a warning look but he didn't see that.
"There's a video? Let me see," said Sunhee's mom, holding out her hand to Sehun.
Sunhee pushed her mom's hand away. "Sehun-ah, remind me to cut off your salary by half," warned Sunhee.
"I'll give you a raise," countered Sunhee's mom. "Now let me see that footage."
Sehun was torn in between the mom's and daughter's determined gaze. "I uh..." he scratched his head helplessly, turning to Haewon in panic. Haewon just pretended not to see that as if saying, you're on your own.
"How much longer are they going to tape off the bakery?" asked Sunhee to Haewon changing the subject. Because of the case yesterday, the bakery was closed off as a crime scene and they weren't able to open it.
"The officer promised me by 3 p.m. today, the latest," replied Haewon.
"That's good. Did someone manage Livvy and Freddy before they close off the area?" asked Sunhee worriedly. The starters had to be taken care of or it would be a problem if they are left without their daily feeding and they have to take care of the sourdough discard.
"I did, sajangnim," assured Dowon.
"You should stop worrying about your bubbly friends. You should trust your staff more," chided Sunhee's mom.
"I was just checking," grumbled Sunhee. "That's literally the bakery's life."
"Eomonim, when did you arrive?" asked Haewon, again trying to divert Sunhee's mom from asking the video from Sehun.
"Just got in this morning. This girl nearly had a fight with Hoseok for telling me what happened yesterday and I had to step in," said her mom. "I called her up many times and she didn't answer. Of course, the next logical thing would be was to call up her boyfriend to know what happened. I called Hoseok and I was glad he was with her," she ranted
Sunhee's jaws dropped in horror.

Author's note: It's usual to call your friends' mom eomonim if you're really close to them as to why Haewon addresses Sunhee mom as such.
Sourdough discard: The amount of sourdough starter you need to remove or "discard" every day or weekly depending on the age and storage of your sourdough starter. You discard this amount to add more flour and water to feed your sourdough starter and allow it to grow and ferment
