Hoseok reached his home in under 15 minutes. The sun was rising and it was still early at 5.30 am. He felt like he was one of the characters in a zombie movie who was running home before the sun goes down, only that in his case, he rushed before the sun comes up. He called Sunhee after he parked his car and was stalling for time to get into the building. He was counting on the other members to still be in bed as they usually do after returning for a trip.
They could also be unpredictable too.
He looked at his watch. It wasn't as if he was doing anything wrong. He's a full-grown adult, not a randy teenager. He turned the engine off and made his way to the lift.
Hoseok entered the code and went into the house. The door light inside turned on automatically as he went in. He craned his neck to look around as he changed his shoes for the in-house slipper. The dim light they always left on in the living room was still lit. One of them would surely turn that off if they were awake. He tried to listen for movements around the area from his side. He didn't hear anything loud or rustling around. Maybe none was up yet. He walked further and he was wrong.
Three pairs of eyes were looking straight at him from their kitchen island.
Busted.
"Good morning, Hope hyung," greeted Jungkook, munching on his cereal.
"Where were you from at this hour, young man?" asked Jin in his mock-serious voice. He even crossed his arms to add effect to his stern voice.
"Now you remember where your house is?" added Yoongi as he sipped on his coffee.
Hoseok stopped and turned to the kitchen. It was useless. Of all the people he wanted to avoid at that time, Jin and Yoongi top up the list. Hoseok sighed. There's no running away. He might as well join in the crowd, have his early breakfast. He was getting hungry anyway. "Good morning, everyone," he said, acting cool and unaffected as he removed his jacket and draping it at an empty stool.
Jungkook sniffed out curiously. "New jacket, hyung?"
Hoseok didn't answer Jungkook's question as he moved around the island to the fridge. Jungkook has a very strong sense of smell and he would be able to sniff out the scent of a new leather jacket.
"You were not wearing that last night," commented Yoongi. "I didn't think there's any shop open by the time you went out."
"The shampoo smells different too," commented Jungkook.
"Stop commenting on whatever you smell Jungkook," warned Hoseok.
"Are you from Sunhee's?" asked Jin.
"You don't have to ask the obvious, hyung. He won't be back this early if he's from his parents," supplied Yoongi.
"Yes, I'm from her place," confirmed Hoseok as he looked into the freezer. There was still a piece of Sunhee's experimental cinnamon roll left in there. He took it and popped it into the microwave. He was torn between making another cup of coffee or drink something else since he already had one at Sunhee's house. He went back to the fridge and took a can of Sprite out.
The smell of cinnamon wafted out the microwave made his mouth water. He smiled at the same time thinking back to the moment he got those bread. Sunhee was beating the heck out of the roll because of him. He's going to ask Sunhee for more to stock up next time.
"Ya, he's smiling to himself," pointed Jin out and he started singing Daydream, Hoseok's song from his mixtape.
"Someone is at it again," teased Yoongi.
"What are you guys doing up early?" asked Hoseok to the crowd as he sat on the stool. He took a bite of the cinnamon roll and groaned appreciatively. Nothing beats warm bread early in the morning. It would even be better if it was freshly baked. For now, a reheated roll would be the second-best.
