Tuesday - a day after.
"How's Sunhee?" asked Jin to Hoseok as they took their seats. BTS was attending the rehearsal to receive the Order of the Cultural Merit that was scheduled for Wednesday. They were gathering at the venue, waiting to be briefed on how the programme would be carried out. They were waiting for the master of the ceremony and for the other merit receivers to arrive.
"She's fine at the hospital, but she's stewing. The doctors are going to do a final check before they could have her discharged," explained Hoseok. "At this rate, I'm sure she will keep on hounding them and they will release her before the day ends."
"It must be hard for you to leave her at the hospital," commented Jin.
"She forced me to come here. I'm actually afraid to let her out of my sight. Someone actually wanted to kill her," shuddered Hoseok. "Her mom is already there, so here I am with you guys for the rehearsal."
Now that's another thing that she was angry at him for. What could he do when her mom called him up when she was brought to the hospital, after her mom got no response from her? Hoseok assured her mom that Sunhee was fine or she would have driven all the way from Daejeon at that very instant. He didn't tell her the full detail but it was enough to have her reaching the hospital at 7 a.m.
"She's a strong woman," said Yoongi.
"What happened yesterday was crazy," joined Namjoon. "Who would have thought that Hojun was biding for his time to get his revenge."
"I think I lost two decades of my life when I saw the surveillance video," Hoseok sighed. "The crazy bastard was out for blood and she had to defend herself. She can't run and leave our worker behind."
"What happened? I knew she fought back and knocked the guy out but what actually happened?" asked Yoongi curiously. Hoseok hadn't had the time to fill them in on the attack, they only got together at the venue.
Hoseok took out his phone and scrolled through his file. "Go ahead and see for yourself," he passed his phone to Yoongi and looked in the other direction.
Haewon sent him the footage right after he followed the ambulance which brought Sunhee to the hospital. Hoseok forgot about the video and didn't watch it until after Sunhee was settled down in the private room he got for her. She was still unconscious then.
When he finally did watch it, he felt like shaking her up and shouting at her for what she pulled there. She vaguely told him she had her self-defence training before she passed out. From the video, he also knew that she could lose her life in the process. Hojun managed to graze her cheek with his knife when Sunhee blocked him. What if she didn't manage to ward that off?
Hoseok looked at Sunhee's sleeping form helplessly. He was not a good drinker but he knew he had to have something strong. Too bad, the hospital's convenience store didn't sell any liquors. He ended up sleeping sitting on the chair next to the bed with his head on it as he held on to Sunhee's hand.
Hoseok woke up when Sunhee sat straight after she was conscious. "How did I get here?" was her first question to him.
"You got a shock after the incident at the bakery," replied Hoseok as he straightened himself up and massaged his neck.
"I blacked out?"
"We brought you straight away here."
"I hate it when that happens," Sunhee wiped her face and stopped at the butterfly closures at her cheek. She sighed. "That was really close," she said, referring to where the knife was actually aimed at.
"It was. I'm really glad you're not hurt."
Sunhee closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. "Think happy thoughts. Think happy thoughts," she chanted. "Babe, can you hold me?"
