P.S: I had Sia's Helium when I wrote this.
Sunhee put her bag and inspected the cabin. Everything was in place. It was a small structure with 2 beds, a desk and a bathroom. It is situated on private land near Odaesan National Park, owned by one of her dad's acquaintances and the view was amazing from her side of the cabin. The sliding door from one end to another doubled up as the window and the proprietor placed two deck chairs outside.
Unlike any other mountains in South Korea, the slopes aren't that dramatic which made it perfect for a non-challenging hike. Her family usually went there when she was younger and they spent their time hiking to the top. That moment was the one that she felt the happiest.
It was near midnight.
Sunhee closed the curtain to the door and sat on one of the beds. She usually loves to stay in the dark with the curtains drawn as she watches the view of the trees surrounding her. There were other cabins nearby but it wasn't too near to each other and there was privacy. She massaged her forehead. Her head was buzzing from too much caffeine and insufficient sleep time.
Sunhee didn't expect that she would black out while she was accompanying Haewon. It wasn't as if she was running before that. She already planned to drive to Odaesan after Haewon's appointment at Younha's. Staying at the hospital was out of the question. They will make her sleep, and then, the nightmare will come.
Sunhee changed her clothes and the bracelet Hoseok gave her caught her eyes. She was still wearing it despite what he'd say and she still haven't got around to cut it. In few more minutes, it was going to be three days since they broke off and she was a complete mess.
She connected the dots and she knew Hoseok misunderstood the whole situation. There were many times that she stared at the phone, wondering if she should call him up and explain. Most of the time, she didn't. She was furious and disappointed at him at the same time.
She missed him like crazy.
Sunhee looked again at her phone. She turned it off after Haewon called. She didn't want to listen to Haewon's tirade and persuasion along the way. She just needed to focus on her driving. She turned on the radio and sang along to the songs she knew until BTS came up. She then changed the frequency to a radio station that plays trot as other pop stations play BTS too.
Sunhee sighed and found herself suddenly weeping at the thought of Hoseok. So, this was how it felt to be dumped by someone. She didn't know that, as she was the one who usually did the dumping. She will get over him.
Eventually.
They said it is hard when it was still new. She's willing to give herself more time to start being normal, whatever normal is. She can't run away from him forever as he's her business partner. She will run the bakery as always and wire him the profit when it's due. That's just it.
Sunhee's head turned as she heard a knock on the door. She didn't think the cabin operator would come knocking at midnight as she already got everything covered when she checked in. Sunhee wiped her tear-streaked face and went to the door.
"Who is it?" Sunhee called out.
She was cautious and she didn't plan to just open the door to anyone. Drawing the curtain would solve the problem, but scenes from horror movies suddenly played in her head. There won't be crazy psychopaths running around looking for unsuspecting victims here, right? She shook it off instantly. She had been going to the place for years and she knew it was safe there.
"Aegiya, it's me."
Sunhee was stunned. She hoped her ears were not deceiving her. How could Hoseok be here? How did he know that place?
