this world we live in
is so broken
the fault line being
the beings living here
the crack in the earth
being the crack in our voices
the ones we were told to lift high
and be confident in
the earthquakes being
the crumbling of our hearts
our souls
our minds
as they are pushed
to their breaking point
the tsunamis and hurricanes;
waves and oceans of tears
we've cried for lost causes
and lost hope
and lost people
the tornadoes being
people that come into
our homes to destroy
everything
we have ever known
everything good
every object that has meaning to us
we can only use
natural disasters
to help explain
the disaster that has become
our lives
because no other thing
is terrible enough
to compete with us humans
and what we have done
to each other
