spring rolled around
and the flowers
bloomed once again
they awoke from hibernation
and took a long look in the mirror
something inside of them
stirred
they opened the blinds
to let light in
and as the sun
washed over their body
a once dormant volcano
erupted inside of them
burning through
their paper heart
disintegrating
every love letter
they wrote you
until your memory
turned to ash
their soul burst into flame
and they burned down
the ghost town
they once harbored
scorching tumbleweeds
and cobwebs
they left behind
they created a city
built on self love
and replaced mere sketches of you
with framed artwork of themself
electricity surged
through their veins
and powered the city
they created
leaving you blinded
by their light

their laughter is the song
you cant get out of your head
and their eyes
hold an ocean within them
they stop everyone
in their tracks
when they takes a stroll
down any sidewalk
paralyzing others
with their beauty
they built themself
so strong
and steady
that the sun knelt at their feet
and your jaw dropped in awe
at the god
they had become

that first day of spring
they snatched a pen
right off of their desk
dipping it in black ink
and wrote letters to the stars
about how
happy
they are now
without you
and how
they found something
far greater
than loving someone
who didn't love them
- loving themself
