Chapter 7 • Another death

November 14 2020, 3 PM

Wuxie and the team were on the way to the professor's office. Xiao Hua had already briefed their doubts on the death of the late commissioner too.

"So, it's true. There were more murders." Wuxie sighed.

"Yeah. Finally, we can conclude it." Pangzi said.

"Conclude? That's a long way to go Pangzi." Xiao Hua corrected Pangzi immediately. Pangzi nodded in agreement.

Jiang Yuelou was the one driving since they took his jeep, and doctor in the front seat. The trio was in the back finally relaxing as more members got added to the team. Suddenly Yuelou's phone rang. It was connected to the jeep system. He took the call through the speaker.

"Chief. We have a problem." A voice echoed inside the car. The not so long relaxed faces got tensed the very instant. Jiang Yuelou didn't respond making the tension reach the other end of the phone call. He pulled over the jeep to a roadside.

"umm... Chief..." the voice trembled.

"What now?" Yuelou asked with a bold voice sending chills to the people inside.

"There was an outsider when the chief entered the archive room. Our men saw him, running out. For now, we don't know whether he passed the information out. But they went chasing him So -"

"Just a simple job. You messed it up and now you are reasoning with me?" He yelled. Yuelou sounded cold. "You better catch him soon or else you know what's gonna happen."

"Yes, chief."

Yuelou cut the phone immediately and start the jeep.

"Now we should hurry up." Yuelou said. Yuzhi gives him a faint smile assuring him the other's support.

"I reckon he has already passed the information. If they know we looked into the autopsy reports, I'm afraid" Wuxie didn't finish.

"I'm sorry. I didn't see that coming. If something happens. I'll take the responsibility." Yuelou apologized but Wuxie and Xiao Hua didn't reply.

November 14, 2021, 4.30 PM

After driving for half an hour, they reached a house, fairly big and build in a small forest-like area, withdrawn from the city. They didn't wait for the gate to open. All five of them hopped out of the jeep as Yuelou stopped it in front of the gate. Wuxie, Xiao Hua, and Pangzi rushed to the gate and opened it. Yuelou stopped before the gate as he grabs Yuzhi's hand.

"Why don't you wait in the jeep?" Yuelou asked.

"I'm coming with you. I feel like... it's over." Yuelou says, disappointingly.

"Anyways, stay behind me." Said Yuelou putting Yuzhi behind him and making himself his protective shield.

Wuxie and Pangzi first checked the premises as Xiao Hua entered the veranda. All three had taken It was grave silence inside the house making everyone's heartbeat loud.

"Wuxie..." Xiao Hua called him over. "Let's go in," he said with a low sound. Wuxie nodded and signaled Pangzi to take position behind him.

Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi also reached there and as Xiao Hua extended his handed to the nob, a sound of someone jumping down from a height was heard. Yuelou ran first followed by Wuxie, Xiao Hua, Pangzi, and Yuzhi. The sound heard was from the backyard and reaching there, there was a big wall covering two men's height.

Wuxie looked up towards the berth of the house. "Whoever that was, must have climbed down to the berth then to the wall." He said.

"It's a forest on the other side." Yuzhi who was the familiar one to the place said.
