Chapter 13

November 17, 2020, 9 PM

Wuxie was lying on the long couch in the living room (Of course at Kylin's place). He was scrolling through his phone while smiling ear to ear. Sometimes he wowed at the screen and some other 'untalkable' expressions.

"Wow. That's so cool."

"Oh! So handsome."

"Woah... Is he even real?"

It was the group chat of Kylin fans. Wuxie couldn't put his phone down and it's been more than an hour, he was fanboying over Kylin's pictures.

Most of the pictures were of him at the bar. There were a few pictures of him at the mall, supermarket and etc.

"So domestic."

But one thing in common was he was wearing white or grey. "Yes... I have never seen him wearing any dark colors. Is he picky about colors? But on white shades, that's too boring."

Wuxie was talking loudly as he was the only one there at that time. Kylin was down at the bar and Yanjing is not in town. Wuxie asked Kylin about Yanjing and he said Yanjing has gone to his hometown for some matter.

Wuxie keep on scrolling the pics and suddenly he got up seeing a photo.

"OH MY GOD!"

It was a back shot of Kylin walking down an alley and he was wearing all black. A skin-fit black pants and a black hoodie. Even the backpack was also black.

"Woah... Just his back and he is already handsome in black."

But that was the only picture. Wuxie who didn't read the messages in between now decided to read it.

I couldn't take another shot. He was so fast and I couldn't keep up. So sad.

We missed another chance. Who knows when will he wear it again?

Yes. This is such a rare thing and we always miss it.

"What does it mean? He has worn black even before?" Wuxie wondered. He scrolled fast up looking for the other photos. And yes, it was all his back and side profiles. Very blurry and mostly long shots.

Suddenly an image flashed in his mind.

"No. That can't be."

Wuxie put down the phone the very second. He was stunned as if he saw a ghost.

"Why is his figure is same as the shadow I saw in the CCTV footage?" Wuxie didn't waste any more time he took his laptop and played the footage again.

It was a reflection and there wasn't any face captured. But still, Wuxie couldn't unsee the familiarity of Kylin in all black to that shadow figure.

Wuxie took his phone again and looked at the chat. The recent photo of Kylin in black attire was on the same day as the murder. Wuxie couldn't digest it at all or he didn't want to.

"It can be a coincidence, right?"

The thought was killing Wuxie. Somehow, he was afraid to check further. What if?

Wuxie leaned back, putting the phone down. He closed his eyes tight and his heart was praying for this to be a mere coincidence. But the policing instinct was strong in him and he couldn't shake it off at all. He grabbed his hair tight and growled.

"Why it should be him of all people?"

Wuxie played the footage again and again. It wasn't to confirm Kylin as the killer but to find any kind of excuse to say that wasn't Kylin. But when scrolled through the photos once more he couldn't deny it anymore.
