Izzie Stevens: Here to Stay

With You I'm Born Again

Izzie is standing by the stairs waiting for Derek to make his speech. She looks across the room to see Alex. The shoot a glare at each other. Izzie has left the house early that morning to avoid even seeing him. A couple weeks after the shooting the two of them started having issues. Alex is the type of person to lash out on other people when he can't handle his own emotions and that led to a lot of arguments.

Derek walked into the room and everyone applauded for his return. His speech didn't go as expected when he quit his job halfway through and gave the chief position back to Chief Webber.

During the workday Izzie is brought into the counselor's office just like everyone else involved in the shooting was for a routine check in.

"How are you feeling?" He asks her.

"I'm okay, I feel fine" she replies

"Fine? Your husband was shot."

"And he survived, I'm just grateful he's alive and is gonna be okay"

"Well how are you feeling, specifically?"

"What do you mean by that?" Izzie asked confused.

"You were in a shooting, you could've died. How are you doing coping with that"

"I'm coping pretty well, I've had to cope with almost dying before, I've been dead before. So I haven't really been struggling. I've been doing well."

"And your marriage, how is that going?"

Izzie sighs "well that's a different story"

*fladhback to a few weeks ago*

Izzie and Alex walk through the front door of their house mid-argument.

"I don't understand what's going on with you!" Izzie yells at Alex.

"Nothing is going on with me I'm fine." Alex defends himself.

"You have been rude all day to patients, their families, your friends, you kept mocking April-"

"Everyone makes fun of April what's the big deal!?"

"You made a joke about her dead best friend! It was disgusting! Not to mention all of the comments you made about Lexie. Her boyfriend already abandoned her in the psych ward. Don't you think she's been through enough?!"

Izzie hangs up her coat and walks into the kitchen. Alex follows her as they continue fighting.

"I don't know Alex" Izzie sighs "I don't know what happened to my husband. A month ago we were talking about our future and now I don't even know how to talk to you without it ending in a fight. Just tell me what's going on with you, please."

"Nothing is going on with me! What you think I'm gonna open up to you and cry like a little girl so you can act like this big hero? Not gonna happen because I'm not the issue here Iz, you are."

Alex walks out the door leaving Izzie alone in the kitchen.
*end of flashback*

Izzie is having lunch in the tunnels with Jackson Cristina Meredith and Lexie while they all talk about the wedding.

"Izzie why didn't you help plan the wedding?" Lexie asks her.

"I'm not allowed to" Izzie replies glaring at Cristina.

"You went all bridezilla last time you were asked to plan a wedding I'm not letting that happen to mine!" Cristina tells her.

Alex walks into the tunnels to join them for lunch. Izzie grabs her lunch and leaves. Her and Alex weren't quite done avoiding each other.

Izzie and Alex are both at Cristinas and Owens wedding but try to stay as far away from each other the whole time. Izzie goes and grabs a drink from the kitchen when Alex walks in.

Alex walks to the fridge to go grab a beer.

"I'm staying in a hotel room tonight" Izzie breaks the silence.

"What?" Alex replies confused.

"I really need a night to myself right now. I can't just keep fighting with you over and over again it's too much."

Izzie starts to walk out of the kitchen

"We can't at least talk about this?" He asks trying to stop her.

"Not right now" she walks out of the kitchen to watch the wedding.
