Izzie Stevens: Here to Stay

Suddenly

Help arrived at the scene of the ambulance accident and Meredith and Alex were safe.

Alex seemed fine but Izzie was still worried about him. He went up to the NICU but he clearly still had some residual shock so Robbins had Izzie take over while he got checked out and calmed down.

Alex couldn't just wait sitting around so he went back into the NICU. Izzie and Arizona walked in to see Alex preparing to decompress her stomach.

'What are you doing' Izzie asked as they walked into the NICU.

'I need to decompress her stomach so she doesn't reflex into her trachea.'

'Karev you're not on this case' Robbins yelled at him.

'I've been with this baby since yesterday. Okay? She almost died I almost died. I didn't go through hell with this kid to just back off!' He told her.

Robbins agreed to let him stay as long as he slowed down and Izzie was still worried about Alex working after going through so much in one night but she was also impressed. He refused to give up on his patient and let someone else take over, he wasn't gonna give up on her after everything.

Afterwards Alex ran back into the NICU freaking out thinking he forgot to do the anastomoses he already did.

'Alex, you did the anastomoses I watched you, you did the double layer technique don't you remember?' Arizona asked him

Alex tried to think back but he didn't remember.

'Okay Alex, you need to sit down' Izzie told him as she sat him down. 'You are extremely overtired and probably have some residual shock so you're going to take a break now'

'Yeah but—'

'You're taking a break. Now deep breathe.'

Alex listens to Izzie and begins to calm down.

Once all the patients were taken care of and the baby was stable Izzie and Alex head home.
