Chapter 17

Wednesday 25th August 2021

"No No don't please leave us alone" Maya screamed "Blake stop please" the blonde added starting to shake "Hey bambina" Carina said pulling the blonde closer to her to try and wake her up from her nightmare "You're safe I have you okay he isn't going to get you here" the brunette said stroking the blondes face "Sorry" Maya said once her eyes shot open and she realised she was wrapped in the brunettes arms "You don't have to be sorry" the Italian assured her quick to pull her even closer "Go back to sleep I'm right here and I am not leaving" Carina said rubbing her hand up and down the blondes back.

"I can't close my eyes everytime I do he is there with a gun or a knife or slamming my head through the dry wall" Maya said trying to hold back her tears "Okay why don't we get up and go do something to take your mind off it" Carina asked "Do you want to go to your place and get some things for you to stay here" the brunette asked "Yeah okay" the blonde simply replied "We can also go to the gym or something maybe get the stress and anger out" Carina offered "I have a better idea then the gym" Maya said "What's that" Carina asked "NYPD gun range" the blonde said "I don't think it is best for us to be shooting guns right now" the Italian said "We are allowed to we are police officers and I need to get over my fear of guns I walk around with one attached to my hip and I'm scared of it I never touch it I never draw it and I can't be scared to use my gun when I actually need to" Maya said "Okay bambina let's go to your house first and then we can go" Carina replied.

"Maya" Carina said as the blonde was staring off out the window "Mhm" Maya simply hummed in reply "What's on your mind" the brunette asked as she continued the drive to the blondes house "Nothing sorry" Maya said looking towards Carina "I understand if you don't want to talk about it yet but I know something is on your mind because I know you like the back of my hand so when you are ready to talk about it I am here okay" the Italian said moving her hand to the blondes thigh that immediately tensed with a slight flinch. "Sorry" Carina said moving her hand away trying to hide the crack in her voice "No it isn't you I'm sorry" Maya said reaching over and lacing her fingers with the brunettes "I haven't been completely honest with you about everything that has been happening and I want to but I just don't want whatever this is between us to end because of it" Maya said "Maya I'm not going to end this" Carina said slightly hurt on the blondes feelings.

"I want to tell you everything but not in the car when we get to my place I will and I don't want you to look at me or treat me like a victim and I don't want you to judge me or anything okay" Maya said "I would never judge you bambina it's okay" Carina replied rubbing her thumb over the blondes hand just as they pulled into Maya's street and parked the car. "Don't just get out make sure it is clear" Maya said as the Italian went to open her door "What do you mean" Carina asked confused "Just make sure no one is around please" Maya said concern lacing her voice. "Okay it's clear let's go inside" the brunette said getting out of the car and rounding to the other side to open the door for the blonde.

"Okay just sit down so I can tell you" Maya said taking a seat on her couch and gesturing for  the brunette to sit down next to her "You don't have to tell me if you aren't ready" Carina said "No I want to it's just a lot and I am trying to figure out how to tell you without you getting mad" the blonde said "Just tell me bambina" the brunette replied "He raped me" Maya said refusing to look at the Italian so settled for staring down at her fingers "What" Carina asked shocked "Mhm he followed me home and grabbed me before pulling me into a bush and he raped me" the blonde said "When" Carina asked "About 4 weeks  before he kidnapped you and shot the both of us" the blonde said wiping the tears that were streaming down her face.

"Bambina" Carina said trying to not let her voice crack "Why didn't you tell me" the brunette asked "I didn't know how and I wanted to I really did but then he kidnapped you and he shot us both and I didn't know how to tell you that is was my fault" Maya said "It isn't your fault" Carina quickly assured the blonde "He is crazy okay it is not your fault none of this is your fault" The Italian said going to reach for the blondes hands but quickly pulling them back "You can touch me I didn't mean to flinch I just when you grabbed my thigh I freaked out because he did that" Maya said "I have grabbed your thigh and that before and you never flinched" Carina asked "I tried to forget it and a few weeks after the kidnapping I didn't completely forget but I pushed it down and never thought about it and then he got me arrested and now all I can think about it the way he held me down and the way he pushed his hand so hard on my throat I could barely breath and the way he slammed into me before he finished inside of me and told me that if I told anyone he would find you and he would kill you and I couldn't take that chance so I ran home and jumped in the shower before I went to work and worked all night long to try and forget about it" Maya said as tears streamed down her face.

"I was pregnant" Maya said "I know with Archie" Carina said "No no after he did what he did to me I got pregnant" the blonde said "Oh" the brunette replied "I didn't even know I was pregnant until I got shot and when they did blood work the doctors came in and told me I was only 6 weeks and I couldn't have his child I could not be stuck with him as my babies father for the rest of my life but before I could make a decision on having the baby or not god made that decision for me and I had a miscarriage" Maya said "Wow" Carina said in disbelief to what she was hearing "You need to tell your lawyer" Carina added "No he will kill you" Maya quickly replied "He won't kill me he will go to jail bambina he abused you for months and then raped you and got you pregnant he then kidnapped Vic and I and shot you and me he will go to Jail for all of that" Carina said "At his trial when you are on the stand you need your lawyer to ask you those questions because that is going to convince the jury to lock him away" the Italian said "I'm not risking it because if he doesn't go to jail he will hunt you down and he will kill you and I am not allowing that to happen so no I am not telling anyone" Maya said standing up and walking towards her bedroom.

"Have you got everything" Carina asked walking into the blondes room where she was staring at the photo album Carina remember all to clearly "Maya don't look at that" Carina said quick to walk towards the blonde and close it keeping her hands on the blondes hands "I showed this to you and told you it was all from Seattle but see these last 10 pictures" Maya said opening it back up and flipping through he photos stopping on the ones she was referring to "Mhm" Carina hummed "This is from when he raped me, this is my neck and these were my wrists" Maya said showing Carina all the photos she had already seen "Come on let's go back to my place" Carina said putting the album back into the draw only for Maya to grab it back out "What are you doing" the brunette asked "He knows where I live and I can't risk him coming here and finding this to destroy it this is all I have to put him behind bars Carina" Maya said packing it into her bag "okay bambina" Carina simply replied.

"Do you think you should move houses" Carina asked as the two women were now cuddled up on her couch "Mhm I thought about it but he will just continue to find me" Maya said "Not if the house isn't under your name" Carina said "I think as long as I am in New York he is going to find me" Maya said "He is going to go to jail and you won't have to live in fear anymore" Carina replied "But if he doesn't go to jail I am not staying in New York" the blonde said "What" the Italian asked sitting up trying to hide the pure shock lacing her voice "Mhm if Blake doesn't go to jail for what he has done to me I am moving" Maya said "to a different state" Carina asked "A different country" Maya admitted "Oh" the brunette said.

Friday 27th August 2021

"Andrea she wants to move countries" Carina said pacing her bothers lounge room "Can you sit down you are giving me a head ache" Andrew replied laughing but was quickly met with a glare form his sister "This is serious she is going to move to a different country how are we supposed to be together if she moves across the world" Carina asked "You could go with her" Andrea said "It wasn't exactly presented to me as an option" the older sibling replied "You need to relax you don't even know if she is definitely going to go or not" Andrew said "What if she does" Carina asked "You sort it out when it comes up just get the trial over and done with and if her ex doesn't go to jail it is probably safer you both move considering he wants to kill you" the youngest Italian said.

"Hey" Carina said as she walked in the front door to see the blonde doing push ups "Hi" Maya replied quick to stand up "Everything okay" the blonde asked "Si all good Andrea is having work problems and wanted my opinion" the Italian said hanging up her jacket and walking towards the kitchen "Are you okay" Maya asked cautiously "Yeah fine" the Italian replied "No you aren't" the blonde said "I'm fine Maya" Carina said. "You have been acting weird with me ever since I said I would move countries if Blake doesn't get arrested" Maya said "Yeah well I don't exactly want you to move across the world" the Italian said "I know do you think I want to move because I don't but at least if I leave he will follow me and won't be here to hurt you" the American said "I understand you are worried about me but you don't have to be okay I don't need protecting you are the one who needs protecting so please don't throw away your life here in New York" Carina said
