Chapter 23

Mew's pov:

When i went back home after finishing my appointments for the day, Tha and Ethan weren't in the living room.

I kept my bag on the couch and went to the comfort room where the door was slightly ajar.

I could hear Tha singing as i went closer.

I slowly opened the door and peeked in.

Tha was sitting on the floor in the middle of the room holding Ethan in his arms who was holding a squirrel plushie and was curled into a ball on his lap.

His eyes were closed and his breathing was steady and rhythmic. He was asleep.

A warm smile formed on my face at the sight.

He's come a long way with us.

At first he would get panic attacks if we got within 5 feet around him.

It took us a long time to earn his trust and for him to be at ease with us.

At first, he would let someone else front whever it was time to get rest or anything. Because he wasn't able to let hi guard down enough around us.

But now... Here he is.

Sleeping soundly in Tha's arms.

I went inside.

Tha looked at me and smiled. "Welcome back."

"I'm back. How was he?" I asked quietly as i went upto them and sat down.

I brushed back Ethan's bangs gently.

"Really insecure. I suggested calling one of the others over so he wouldn't be alone while we go to Forth's. But he said he didn't want to disturb them." He sighed.

I pursed my lips.

That part of him is something we haven't gotten around trying to improve yet.

That incident 3 years ago happened just as we were starting to work through them.

And now, we're back to aquare one.

"Can you go by yourself? He asked me to stay. I can't leave." Tha looked at me.

I nodded. "Yeah. I'll explain to Forth. We can meet up with him another time before the birthday."

He hummed.

I gently patted Ethan's head.

Even though their system is a lot more stable than most ones, the individual alter's mental health isn't the most stable.

They still haven't found a good way to cope with their trauma.

They're just forcibly keeping themselves together so the system won't go into chaos.

"We should restart their sessions... And now Blake will probably also agree to do it." Tha spoke up.

"Yeah. It's about time." I nodded in agreement.

I rang the doorbell of Forth's apartment.

It opened a minute later and he was standing there.

A smile formed on my face as i saw that he really looked just like Tae.

"I'm taking it that you're Mew?" He asked.

"Yeah. Thanit couldn't make it today. He had to stay with Ethan." I answered.

He slowly nodded and opened the door wider letting me in.

Tha did say he's already met Ethan, Blake, and Will before.
