We walked back to the apartment and I felt defeated and angry. Bucky nearly had to hold me back from killing John. He fucked up big time and we lost Karli in the process. The only win in this situation was that Zemo had destroyed the serum. It was hardly a win, but at least we didn't have to worry about more super soldiers. We now knew now that there was 9 vials left unaccounted for. We had found 11 vials crushed but what happened with the other 9, well we had no idea.
It was entirely John's fault for coming in like that and setting her off when we had just talked her down. She was just starting to trust us and come to her sense and he scared her right back into hiding. We had fucked up our one chance of saving this because he had no self control once again.
I was sat on the couch next to Zemo who laid flat. John had hit him right in the forehead with his shield and almost crushed in his skull in the process. For someone fighting on our side he sure sucked at showing it. I had bandaged him up and had a compress on his forehead as we all seemed to be calmed down from today. I didn't exactly want to help him but Bucky had been right before, while he still provided help we needed him.
"We're you ever offered the serum, Sam?" Zemo asked and I looked up to him to see his response.
"No." Sam said firmly.
"If you had been, hypothetically. Would you have taken it?" He asked and I furrowed my eyebrows because this conversation was random.
"No." He said again with just as much affirmation.
"No hesitation. That's impressive." He said and he removed the compress from his eyes and look at me softly. "Sam, you cannot hold out hope for Karli. No matter what you saw in her. She's gone and we cannot allow that she and her acolytes to become yet another faction of gods amongst real people. Super soldiers cannot be allowed to exist."
I looked at Zemo who just looked at me blankly. The very person who helped create me was sitting here saying I shouldn't even be allowed to exist. I turned to Sam who looked to be thinking. I got up and walked away over to the bar area silently, but I could still here them continuing to speak.
"Isn't that how gods talk?" Sam asked him. "And if that's how you feel what about Valerie and Bucky? Blood isn't always the solution."
I heard a door open and Bucky came in and he was shaking off his coat. He walked over to me and set his jacket down on the chair on the other side of the bar. The room was clearly tense when he walked in, but I think we all were anyways. Zemo laid back down and Sam went back to whatever he was doing on his laptop before.
"Somethings not right about Walker." He said softly as he came up to me.
"You don't say." I said quietly back towards him.
"He went crazy today, he got into my head and I don't understand how." Bucky said shaking his head.
"Don't worry about it, he would have done what he did anyways." I said wrapping my arms around him.
"Sam shouldn't have given him that shield." He said as he wrapped an arm around my waist.
"Sam didn't give him the shield." I said shaking my head.
"Yeah well Steve sure didn't." He said coldly and I just exhaled.
The doors to the apartment busted open and of course if you speak of the devil, he shows up. He walked in with Lamar at his side.
"The door was unlocked." Bucky said throwing up his hands.
"Alright, that's it. Let's go. I'm now ordering you to turn him over." He demanded and I just let go of Bucky and watched him.
