A Missing Ring

A Not-So-Great Experiment

The sun was slowly setting as they rode through the golden hour. "Well that was fun, we haven't been there in months" Rachel said as she rode in the middle of Andrea and Rafael. "I will have to remember this spot, you're so lucky it's so close to your house!" said Andrea as she felt her hair tie come off.

"Really Asher?" Andrea chuckled, despite the fact that she was still annoyed with him. "How did you know it was me?" Asher gave her back her hair tie with a smile. Maybe he was in a bad mood after the dare, I won't question it.

"Ash, you're the only one who does that, it's question obvious" Ryker laughed as her long hair continued to flow the sky. He sighed as they all laughed at him. "I can't tie my hair now, oh come on!" Andrea attempted as she nearly lost her balance.

"Leave it down! It looks so nice!" Ruth said, "What my twin said, it's so pretty flowing through the wind".

"Thanks you two, but I'm putting it up once we get to Rex's room. It took years to grow this out and I don't want it to burn down" Andrea said as she pushed herself to gather more speed. "Don't worry no one will be getting hurt! Everything is patched up" Rex said as he came closer to them.

"You keep telling yourself that, just don't spill any of your weird serums on us!" Rylie said. "You were the one messing around with them!" Ryker laughed. They all chuckled as they all approached the house.

Everyone got off their skateboards as Rachel and Rafael helped remove the gears from Ruth and Robin. Everyone placed their skateboards back onto the shelves as they entered the house to see Janet in the living room. "Hey mom" the entire family yelled. "Hello kids, did you have fun at the skatepark?" she asked them.

"Yes mom, but we're all gonna head up to my room" Rex said as they all followed him up the stairs. "Don't let anyone get hurt! Make sure no one gets splashed with a serum!" Janet yelled as he was already up.

"Yes mom! Don't worry they won't be touching my property. I'm looking at you skating twins" Rex called Rafael and Rachel. Everyone laughed as they followed Rex up the stairs and to the 3rd door on the right. He walked in first as everyone else was able to fit, each of the rooms were gigantic as his room looked like a science lab.

Rex's room had his bed to the top left, his set was black with a blue comforter neatly tucked in. Across from his bed he had a huge desk and a small area to do his own experiments. The desk went from wall to wall and had a simple black chair. He had a simple, brown board where he placed all the different symbols for science, as each little opening up top had either books or test tubes of mysterious liquids.

"Wow you really like to experiment" Andrea pointed to at least 20 different test tubes. Each had their slight difference of color. Some were yellow, blue, teal, mint, red, brown, and all of the above.

"We told you he was a geek" Rylie said as Rex walked over to the glass divider that blocked the test tube in the shelves.

"I am not a geek! They are just experiments" Rex yelled back. Andrea chuckled at them as she sat on his bed. "Tell me, what are some of the serums you've made, or are they all a work in progress?" said Andrea as Asher went to sit next to her. The rest of the family around his room just enough for some to still walk around.

"Well I did make one for fatigue, for any to use during Ranquet matches. Rachel usually feels weak afterwards, so I created one for her" Rex pulled out a mint green solution and tossed it to her. "Sweet, this is definitely going to help me" Rachel put the serum into her black pair of pants. "Don't worry Rafael I've been making yours as well, here don't get them mixed up, each solution is made for your body" Rex tossed Rafael a aqua colored bottle, "Sick, I'll remember to bring this in our next match after winter break".
