A Missing Ring

Asher's Confession

"What do you want to talk about, one second you are fine... the next you are all serious?" Ryker questioned. The entire family sat on the floor looking over intensively at Asher. He didn't say anything as he felt Andrea adjust herself on his lap. The silk blanket fell off her hips to ler legs, moving her arm to just on top of Asher's lap. He moved the blanket up to her waist, as her body continued to slightly shiver.

"Ryker's right, after the dare you seemed disgruntled, happy, then guilty, now serious? What's been going on?" Rylie asked. They could all tell he was worried about what he was attempting to say. He picked at his nails and brushed his hair back.

"It's about Andrea, it's about why I've been acting like the worst friend this year" Asher gave them a brief thought. He's always been saying, 'the worst friend' but every time he apologized, what could he be trying to say now? Ryker thought as he stood straight up, "Worst friend? Dude Andrea has forgiven you every time".

"Yes, and I am grateful for that but I just get back to the same situation, acting like such an idiot. She is just so... forgiving" Asher groaned and leaned over to the arm rest.

"Is that a bad thing? I mean you want to be her friend don't you?" said Robin as she leaned against the glass table. "Ash... something is up, you're making it seem like you don't want to have this relationship anymore" said Rafael in a shocked tone.

"No no I do- I do want our relationship" Asher stuttered, as they all saw his face grow a frown. "Well you're making it seem like you don't want it, that's what we are hearing" Ryker raised his eyebrow. Asher groaned in frustration, as he looked up to feel all eyes on him, staring him down.

The room fell silent as Asher didn't respond, "Asher just answered the simple question, what the heck is making you act like this?".

"It's nothing... nothing just forget about it" Asher grabbed his phone and started to scroll around on his apps until Rachel took his phone. "Give it back!" Asher nearly got up, remembering Andrea was sleeping he couldn't.

"You can get it back when you tell us what you wanted to tell us, you can't put on this act without telling us the truth" Rachel tossed his phone to Ryker. "You also can't get up, I mean you could wake her up" Ryker used Asher's weakness. "We all know your friendship with her means everything, now you act like this? Something is up, and it sounds big".

"Promise you will never tell Andrea or judge me" Asher said, leaning down to make sure she was sound asleep. "We promise now spill it!" Ruth said impatiently. Rylie kept Ruth in her seat as everyone's eyes fell on Asher.

"I like Andrea" Asher said while everyone didn't look shocked, "Yea all her friends like her, who doesn't?" Rafael shrugged his shoulders. "Not like that, I like Andrea more than a friend. I wish it was more".

Ryker stood up from the floor quickly, "I did not just hear that, Asher Maka has fallen for a girl". Everyone looked at each other then back to Asher's flustered cheeks. He hid his face by playing with her hair and stroking her cheek. "Is this another love potion, because that wouldn't meet Ryker's enjoyment" Robin nudged him.

"No it isn't a potion, I really like her, more than anything. This feeling grows everyday, and it hasn't stopped" Asher's cheeks were easily pink and a smile he couldn't get rid of.

"I knew you were going to be the first one to catch feelings!" Ryker yelled as Rylie covered his mouth, "Andrea is sleeping!". Andrea whimpered softly as she moved around, "Hey it's ok, go back to sleep, you're ok". Asher played with her hair until she stopped shifting around.

"What did 'you will never tell Andrea' did you not understand?" Asher covered Andrea's ears as he yelled to Ryker. "Sorry, I just got excited, after all this time I knew you would fall in love with the girl that was always there for you".
