Chapter Four Dinner Together

Soon the sun had set, and everything was finally quieted down. Kotaro said that he was going to ask around the village but it had been a while. I heard the door rattle, and Kotaro walked into the room.

Aki: "Welcome back!"

Kotaro: "I got some rice and fish from the villagers let's eat."

Aki: "Then I'll make dinner!"

Kotaro: "No. I could never let the princess work like that."

I looked at Kotaro and smiled.

Aki: "But I'm not the princess! I'm Shizuka!"

Kotaro: "…"

Silence filled the room once again. So I decided to make dinner, and after some time dinner was finished. The wonderful smell of cooked fish floated around the room as I looked to Kotaro.

Aki: "Dinner's ready!"

Kotaro: "Wow. You sure can cook!"

Aki: "Jen Jen showed me how to cook!"

We sat down to dinner together.

Kotaro: "…"

Aki: (So he doesn't want to talk. It's so quite…)

Kotaro: "…"

Aki: (Back at the temple dinner was always lively…It made me slowly miss it, and I was begun to wonder how Jen Jen was doing. I hope her and Sasuke can get along.)

Kotaro: "…"

In the end, dinner ended in silence.

Aki: "Thank you."

I stood up and gathered the plates.

Aki: "I'll wash them. You should rest Kotaro!"

Kotaro: "No allow me…"

Aki: "It's fine Kotaro please relaxes…" (He must like being alone…"

I walked over to the well, got some water, and started to wash the dinner dishes.

Aki: "That was a loney dinner, wasn't it?" (I wonder how everyone is doing at the temple…and how Jen is doing.)

It was making me so sad I started to cry.

Aki: (No! I can't cry now! I'm the ninja princess!)

Kotaro: "Princess…"

Kotaro called from the other room.

Kotaro: "The well water must be really cold."

Aki: "No…I'm fine."

Kotaro: "…"

Slience once again filled the room.

Kotaro: "Do you know what I'm thinking of?"

Aki: (Crap. I think her heard Chiyo and I talking) "I'm sorry for whispering like that."

Kotaro: "No...I'm the one to blame..." 

Kotaro comes over to me.

Kotaro: "I'll try harder…"

He said as he used his Kimono to wipe away the remanding tears from my face.

Aki: "…"

Kotaro: "I don't have any confidence… in that field…"

Aki: "What field?"

Kotaro started to turn beat red as he looked at me.

Kotaro: "you know…girls…"

Aki: (He's not cold! He just doesn't know how to act around girls!)

Kotaro: "I'll take the dishes."

Kotaro takes the dishes and lightly brushes my hand.

Kotaro: "Your hands are freezing…"

Just then Kotaro stands up and takes my hands.

Kotaro: "Princess stay in the house."

Kotaro was watching the door with such intensity. I started to wander if someone was outside. Kotaro slowly stepped outside and closed the door behind him I ran over to the window to watch what he was going to do.
