Dawsey: Starting a Family Part 3

Matt's POV:
After getting changed and unpacking my things upstairs, I smiled when I came downstairs to see Antonio playing with Louie in the living room. "I swear, sometimes I wonder whether your brother is just a big kid in an adult body." Antonio then looked up at me when I said that and laughed. "Look who's talking. You are the biggest kid of them all brother." I nodded when he said that. "Yeah, I am." Feeling Gabby rub my arms, I just smiled and went to kiss her shoulder. "By the way, did you guys hear what happened at City Hall today?" I then looked at him. "No, what happened?" Antonio then smiled. "Jay and Erin got married today."

I was shocked when he said that. "Woah, didn't expect that to happen. What does Hank think about that?" Antonio then smiled. "He was there at the ceremony." I nodded and agreed with him. "Why they get married?" Antonio shrugged. "I am not sure and I am not going to ask." I smiled when he said that. "By the way, you just lost your favorite date night spot. By the way, I want to talk about that with you okay?" Rubbing Gabby's waist, I went to kiss her shoulder while holding her close. "You mean Molly's?" Antonio then looked at us. "No, you guys didn't loose the bar." I nodded. "We responded to the fire. It was the second toxic fire. It's what got me home."

Antonio nodded when I said that. "Well, I like that. We do not need you to get sick, hurt or to die. That would mean that I would have to help both my sister and girlfriend grieve." I then looked at him when he said that. "You did not just say that. Louie, come here bud." Louie then walked over to me and I bent down. Louie got a bit scared and just looked at me. Grabbing him, I smiled at him. "Listen, uncle Antonio was just playing okay? Daddy isn't going anywhere. I promise." Louie nodded when I said that before going to hug me. "Gabby, want to come sit down?" Gabby nodded. "I will be right there." Picking Louie up, I smiled and nodded.

Walking to the living room with him, I smiled as I prepared to hold him in my lap. That's when I saw Gabby grab a beer for me out of the fridge. "You sure?" Gabby nodded when I said that. "Antonio, you stay away." Antonio nodded and agreed. 'I promise." Gabby then smiled as she walked over to me. "You had a really hard shift today. I think you deserve this. I think we can make a deal that you can drink in moderation at home. Just no going to bars while I am pregnant." I nodded when she said that. "But honestly, I need it after what I had to do to Severide today." Gabby looked at me when I said that. "What did you do?"

I then sighed and looked at her. "I had to temporarily demote him. Cruz is now acting Lieutenant." Gabby nodded when I said that. "Right, I think you mentioned it. I forget now but...can we talk about it." I sighed. "What's there to talk about? I am not changing my mind. He didn't respect the authority I had over him as Battalion Chief, he doesn't deserve to be a Lieutenant. He can earn his spot back by listening to me without any questions. I am not playing around and I need to put my foot down. Don't even try and change my mind Gabby."

Setting Louie down on the couch, I went to get up and then walked away because I was having a hard time with this...something that I didn't need my wife to question me about when she needs to be on my side in this case. I already have my best friend hating me.

Gabby's POV:
As I watched Matt walk away, I turned to look at Antonio and sighed. "Antonio..." He just looked at me and nodded. "Matt's hard a rough shift. Go upstairs and talk to him. I know that's what you both need right now. Go relax and I will stay here today. I can spend some time with my nephew." I agreed and smiled. "Thanks Antonio." I then went to walk away to go talk to Matt in bed.
