Chapter 305

BACK TO PRESENT TIME
Matt's POV: After thinking back to the charity event in New York City, I smiled at Gabby while grabbing her hand. "And let's just say that we had a wonderful night. I upgraded the room and we had a gorgeous view of the Hudson River." Gabby smiled when I said that. "It was right by a subway station so that really helped. Oh and he upgraded my room. I think we stayed in the one that the charity originally reserved for me." I nodded and smiled. "They made the reservation however, I was the one who upgraded the room to a suite with a better bathroom and a bath."

Gabby smiled and nodded. "The best part was just being together in New York City. I never expected Matt to come and for him to make the effort...it was incredible." I nodded and smiled when she said that before going to wrap my arm around her. Putting my hand on Gabby's leg, I smiled at her when I started to remember that she probably had to eat. "Hey, I just thought about something...who's ready for something to eat?" My mom laughed when I said that and nodded. "If you want, I can make something." I then looked at Gabby and smiled. "Molly's?"

Gabby then bit her lip. "Matt, they are closed." I then thought about it. "Wait, isn't someone running delivery service? I thought I read in a Molly's e-mail that somebody is doing delivery. I think Hermann, Cindy and Lee Henry as well as Cruz and Stella." Gabby then remembered that and nodded. "Oh shit...we have people doing Uber Eats and Skip the Dishes. What if Hermann tested positive? Or Stella?" That's when I got another test result via e-mail for Stella and Severide. Going to open it, I got really scared when I saw the results. They were both positive.

I then went to get up and sighed. "Fuck!" Gabby then looked at me when I said that. "Matt, no swearing in front of Louie." I then sighed and turned to look at her. "Sorry if I am mad that the entire leadership team for my first shift has to isolate!" Gabby then looked at me. "Oh no, who did you just get back?" I then looked at her. "Stella and Severide are both positive. He was at Molly's with Cindy...so she and their kids have been exposed, which means the Hermanns have been exposed along with any Skip the Dishes and Uber Easts drivers at Molly's restaurant."

I then took a breath. "And since Molly's is now a place where we can have another outbreak...Cruz might have been exposed which means that my entire leadership team has been exposed and now have to isolate." Gabby sighed when I said that and felt really bad. "Wow..." I nodded and then looked at my mom. "Listen mom, I am really sorry about this but...I am going to need time to take a breath. Between the chemical exposure and now, a COVID breakout in my house among all 3 of my shifts...I am just not in a place to socialize right now."

My mom nodded and agreed with me. "Matt, go take a breath and just relax in your room. You want me to stay down here with Gabby and Louie?" Gabby then looked at me. "I can come if you want." I sighed and looked at my mom. "Mom, I hate to do this to you but...I just need time right now and if Gabby could come with me...I'd really appreciate that." She nodded when I said that and agreed. "Of course Matt, you need your wife right now and that's perfectly fine. You guys go ahead, talk it out and just spend time together. I'm here to help in however I can."

I then thought about it. "Actually, first we are going to do something..." Gabby then looked at me, confused. "What's that?" I sighed and looked at her. "Everybody pack up in the van because we are going to get tested. Between your brother, my sister and 7 cases at the firehouse...I want to be certain that I am not exposing you to this. If we are positive, then we have to isolate upstairs. I am just praying that you are not positive so that you can stay and take care of Louie either for us or to help Gabby." My mom nodded and agreed with me. "Of course I will."

I then sighed and looked at my mom. "Mom, I just want to make sure you know what you'd be getting yourself into if me and Gabby test positive. You would be down here alone with Louie, all alone with him while also having to keep him away from us. Are you ready to do that?" My mom then bit her lip and nodded. "Of course." Gabby then looked at me and nodded. "We are still all going to get tested. And maybe we can stay in a hotel instead of staying here...that way they are safe here while we can be protected in another room. We can have professional room service."

I nodded and agreed with her when she said that. "Let's go pack some bags as well as our laptops because if we have to Isolate, then I am working from the hotel." Gabby nodded when I said that...ready to do whatever we have to do to keep Louie and my mom safe. I just hope that we are either negative or that this won't affect the babies.
