Meanwhile, with the Halsteads:
Jay's POV: As I come home from doing the groceries, I smile as I see Erin standing in the kitchen after waking up on our second day since becoming husband and wife. And thank god I did see her because this already cheers me up. I just got a lecture from Hank when we ran into each other at the grocery store. I mean, a pregnant woman needs to eat. What? Does he want her to do the groceries instead of me? Not happening after our COVID scare. She stays home until further notice. I am just glad that I didn't have any problems bring Champ into the store.

Walking up behind her after setting the bags of groceries on the counter, I smiled as I went to put my hands on her stomach and then kissed her shoulder. "Hey, how did you sleep last night? I felt you move in and out of bed earlier this morning...was everything okay?" Erin sighed as she turned to look at me. "Morning sickness." I nodded when she said that before stepping close to her. "Erin, you sure you don't want to take some of those meds? Will already gave me some and you can take some right now if you want." Erin sighed when I said that. "I'm not weak Jay."

I shook my head when she said that. "Hey, taking medicine isn't weakness...where in the would did you ever hear that? Babe, you know I take meds for my PTSD...so please don't tell me that I ever told you that taking medicine is for the weak...because it isn't." Erin then sighed. "I just don't know." I nodded when she said that and knew that she was just scared. "You are just scared of everything right now aren't you? Between COVID and us having just lost our routine...it's a big adjustment and it's happening within months of another big adjustment."

Erin sighed when I said that and nodded while going to grab the back of my head. She then brought me close to her before holding me in her arms. "I am scared to loose people we love. What if your brother gets it since he works at the hospital? I mean, you would be devastated. What if Hank gets it? Would we be ready to take over intelligence? Jay, there are so many questions that are going through my mind right now that I hate to even think about." I nodded when she said that before just wrapping my arms around her and holding her close.

I nodded when she said that and just sighed. "Then we can concentrate on work. I know there is something we have to do right? Some case?" Erin nodded when I said that. "Yeah, we have to meet with this FBI Agent on video call because me and her are going to be working this joint FBI-CPD case dealing with human trafficking." I then got nervous when she said that. "Erin, you sure this is the best time for you to do it? I mean, you are pregnant with our daughter and it might get close to Nadia...are you sure that you are up for it?" Erin the sighed. "You're helping me."

Erin nodded when I asked her that. "Yes, I told him that if the FBI ever needed help...I wanted you to help me. They already know that you are going to help and have given you the clearance. Since you were in the army, it was easy for them to do a background check on you." I smiled when she said that and agreed, going to kiss her softly. "We going to work the case in bed or in the office." Erin then smiled when I asked her that. "In bed. Now, how about you take off Champ's leach so that he can eat while we unpack the groceries." I nodded and agreed.

Bending down, I looked at Champ and smiled at him. "Go relax okay bud?" I then went to kiss the top of his head when he walked away to go get a drink of water. Walking away, I went to hang his leach up before coming back to the kitchen to help Erin with the groceries. "Just to let you know, they didn't have any of the vitamins that you wanted. I got something similar that the pharmacist recommended. I hope that's okay?" Erin turned to look at me when I asked her that and nodded. "Yeah, that's fine. As long as I take pre-natal vitamins...I'm all good." I agreed and smiled at her. "God, does this feel real for you yet?"

Erin smiled as she turned to look at me. "It felt real the minute I saw the positive pregnancy test. I am just glad that you came home right after that."

**NOTE: In this story, Erin never left Chicago and she and Jay have been dating since they started dating on Chicago PD**

I nodded and agreed with her. "Me too. I was just shocked you called me and wouldn't tell me over the phone. But hey, one benefit of the pregnancy was that it fast-forwarded our engagement and then our marriage." Erin shook her head. "No, the pregnancy fast forwarded our engagement...the pandemic fast forwarded our marriage. I was going to wait until after I gave birth remember?" I nodded when she said that. "Do you regret that decision now?" Erin laughed and agreed with me, smiling. "Listen, just get to work so we can make a call."

I agreed and nodded as we continued to unpack the groceries so that we could get to work on our newest joint CPD-FBI case.
