Gabby's POV: After spending the past hour speaking to my half-sister, I came to see what Matt was doing with his sisters. Making my way upstairs to his office, I smiled while he was showing off some pictures to his sisters on the computer. "Yeah, so that was Gabby's graduation from the fire academy. I was so proud but they sent her to the worst house in Chicago." Heather nodded when Matt said that. "Let me guess you transferred her to 51?" I nodded and smiled. "Yeah, and he became my Lieutenant during my candidacy." Turning to look at me, Matt smiled at me.
"How was your conversation with your half-sister?" I then smiled. "It was actually fun. It was a little awkward...can't say the same for you guys though." Matt sighed when I said that. "Gabby, you know the situations aren't the same. I have known Heather since the Fire Academy. You just met your half-sister." Christie then looked at me. "I know how you are feeling though Gabby, it's a big awkward." Matt then turned to look at her. "Oh god, I am so sorry Christie. I just got into such a groove with Heather that I didn't even think about it." Christie nodded and sighed.
"It's okay Matt, I understand that you have a pre-existing relationship with Heather." Matt then sighed and went to walk over to Christie. "You are still my sister and that is never going to change. In fact, it's never going to change. Just don't expect me not to be the protective brother to the both of you. I am going to protect those sons of yours. Speaking of which, where are Ben and Griffin?" That's when Ben came in after going to the washroom. "Sorry uncle Matt, I was in the washroom. Griffin is just going now." Matt nodded and agreed. "I like that, uncle Matt."
Matt smiled as he came to hug Ben. "I like it too." He then went to kiss the top of his head. "But that's not going to be the case when you are my candidate." Bending down, he looked at him. "You still going to try and get into the fire academy?" Ben nodded and smiled. "Yeah, think you can help me?" Matt agreed and smiled. "Yeah, and you are going to be a candidate on Truck 81. I am already going to make sure that happens." Heather then looked at me. "You need to promise me you are going to keep him safe Matt when he starts his candidacy."
Matt then went to get up and looked at her. "Believe me, I will Heather. Remember, he is both my godson and my nephew. I am always going to protect my family. Always have and always will." I nodded when he said that. "I can attest to that Heather. I remember when he had to rescue Violet. By the way, did you get full custody Christie?" Christie nodded when I asked her that. "Yeah, the judge did it right away when I told him what happened. He didn't even need to hear arguments because it was just wrong." Matt smiled when Christie said that.
"Listen, I am going to go lay down in bed for a bit Matt. I already told Antonio...he is going to wait for Christie. Spend time with your sisters okay?" Matt looked at me. "Are you tired because you are stressed and couldn't sleep last night...or are you tired because you are just sleepy?" I then shook my head. "Matt, you are not coming upstairs. Spend time with your sisters." Matt nodded and agreed. "I will do another hour with them." Heather nodded and agreed. "Gabby, if you need Matt with you...I understand. The boys need to go do homework anyways."
Ben and Griffin groaned when Heather said that. "Yes you do boys. Now, say goodbye to your uncle Matt so I can take you home." Walking over to him, Ben and Griffin both when to hug Matt. "You guys are going to come over soon okay? We are going to see each other a lot more...I promise okay?" Matt then went to kiss the tops of their heads and smiled. They then both came to hug me and I did the same. "You guys be safe." They both nodded before walking away. Matt then looked at Heather. "I mean it, I want to have time with my sisters."
They all laughed when Matt said that. Going to grab their hands, Matt looked at them. "With this COVID thing going around...we need to remember what's important in life, family. Promise me that we will always stay in touch during this pandemic okay? I've always been worried about you and Violet Christie...and of course I have been the same with you and the boys Heather. But now, I am going to be even more worried because you are my sister. Promise me that you will let me know if there is anything I can do to help you guys. We are siblings forever."
The three of them then went to share a hug. I smiled at the sight of Matt holding his sisters close because I knew that he liked the fact that he had siblings. "Of course Matt. Now listen, I have to get the boys home. It was nice meeting you Christie and great seeing you both again Matt and Gabby. Maybe we can get together at Easter?" Matt nodded and smiled. "I will talk to Gabby about it." Matt then turned to look at me. "How about you go upstairs and I will let my sisters out okay Gabby?" I nodded and agreed with him. "Of course." I then went to hug them both.
"It was great seeing you both. And welcome to the Casey family Heather." Heather nodded and agreed with me when I said that. "Thanks. Now, you go rest and make sure that we get to meet our niece and nephew soon." I agreed and smiled while looking at Matt. "See you upstairs?" Matt nodded and agreed with me when I said that. "Yes you will. Now let's go ladies and we can let you out...or you can stay and talk to mom Christie, your choice." Christie nodded when Matt said that as he led them downstairs. Meanwhile, I made my way upstairs to relax in bed.
