New Year's Fundraiser 2019 - Part 1

Matt's POV: As I arrive at the World Trade Center Event Space in New York City, I smile because I am about to surprise my girl at her charity event here. Sure, she's only been away from Chicago for 3 months and I just saw her in town a few days ago but...I still miss her like crazy. And when she told me that she was stopping here (of course, after she flew here without me)...I decided to make my way here too. I had tonight off as well as tomorrow. And I knew she wasn't going to leave after getting drunk on New Year's Eve so...that might mean that I get 24 hours with my girl.

Looking at security, I smiled as I went to show my ticket (which of course, I got for free as her husband...like I was going to pay for it). That's when I decided to make my way over to her charity's booth and looked at her boss. "Matt, how are you?" I smiled when she said that. "Good, just here to surprise Gabby. I decided to make the trip. She doesn't know." She smiled when I said that. "I have her talking to the Trump brothers." I then turned to look at her. "Seriously? You are making the daughter of immigrants talk to the sons of our anti-immigrant president?"

She then looked at me. "I hadn't even thought about that." I nodded and agreed. "Also, what are they even doing here? Their dad hates Puerto Rico." She shrugged and went to look at the next guest. Meanwhile, I went to go grab us some wines before walking over to Gabby so that I could save her from having to talk to those Trump boys. "Honestly, I just don't get why we should even care. I mean, they are the ones in debt." Gabby sighed when he said that. "Yes but your father can still help more. If you have his ear at all...just get him to reconsider." I then sighed.

"Boys, let me just tell you this...tell her you'll do it, donate a bit of money and she'll leave you be. Works all the time for me." Going to give her some wine, I smiled at her. Gabby then turned to look at me and smiled. "Hey, what are you doing here?" I smiled and went to give her wine to her before going to wrap my arm around her. Kissing her softly, I smiled at her. "Surprise." Gabby smiled when I did that and was really happy. Rubbing my back, I smiled at her. "Eric and Donald, it was a pleasure to meet you. Good luck with the investigations."

I then went to grab Gabby's hand and smiled as I went to lead her away. "Thank god you saved me. Honestly, I think that was a lost cause." I nodded and agreed with her. "Can't help but say I agree." I then went to grab her hand and smiled as I intertwined our fingers. "This is a surprise." I nodded and smiled. "Yeah, had you told me that you were doing a charity event here in New York before you left Chicago...I would've come. How long are you staying here?" Gabby smiled. "I have 3 nights here. Tonight, tomorrow for hangover...and the day after because I asked to be a tourist. I was going to go do midtown." I smiled when she said that. "I'm off this first week."

Gabby smiled when I said that. "That means we have a couple days here. Maybe I can get an extension. I felt so bad that I didn't stay long enough...I should've stayed longer." I then looked at her. "Babe, if you are having second thoughts about going back..." Gabby shook her head when I said that. "No, I want to be in Puerto Rico. Don't change my mind." I nodded when she said that. "I wouldn't do it ever. Just know that I expect to have some time with my girl. And go talk to your boss to see if you can get an extension for a few days. If you can't I'll come to Puerto Rico."

Gabby smiled when I said that and nodded as she got close to me and then kissed me softly. "Listen, you enjoy yourself okay? Find me if there's dancing later and...I will see you at midnight." I smiled when she said that and agreed with her. "I love you." Kissing her one last time, I smiled as I went to let her go....ready to have her alone later that night. But maybe we might dance first for a while.
