Chapter 284

Matt's POV: After spending the past hour asleep in bed, I smiled as I came downstairs to smell something good in the kitchen. "God, something smells delicious in here." Antonio laughed when I said that and smiled. "Listen, I was going to ask but...I was going to meet up with Christie. But, I thought since you had a bad day...she could join us? Have a double date with Louie?" I smiled when he said that before going to lean against the counter. "Honestly, I think that would be a great idea. I haven't seen my sister with a guy in a long time so...I'd like to see you guys together. By the way, I am so sorry for how I tore you guys apart. That was wrong and I have been in a bad headspace ever since we learned Boden died. It's been hard on all of us."

Antonio nodded when I said that. "You don't want to talk about it do you?" I shook my head. "I already spoke about it with Gabby and that's enough honestly. I am just trying to forget this day ever happened." That's when I heard Louie come in. "Daddy, can I watch TV?" I nodded and smiled. "Do you remember how to turn it on?" Louie shook his head when I asked him that. "Listen, I'll be right back and we can keep talking." Antonio nodded and agreed with me when I said that. However, before I could get a chance...I heard a knock on my door. "I think I know who that is." Going to walk over to the door, I smiled at Christie. "You ready for our double date?" She laughed and smiled before going to walk up to me. She then hugged me and smiled. 

"This is the first time I've seen you since I learned the news. So, how are you?" I then sighed. "Doing better. Might've let some of my grief come out today at work." She then sighed and looked at me. "Hope everything gets better." I then nodded and hugged her again. "Listen, come in. Now you are going to spend time with your nephew and me before you even go see your boyfriend. Sorry but, he's making supper for us." Antonio then yelled from the kitchen. "I'm making spaghetti and meatballs Christie. With that spice you like." Christie smiled when he said that. "Sounds delicious but, we are not a couple tonight. We are here as an aunt and uncle independent of each other." I laughed when she said that but she was serious. "Oh, you..."

Christie nodded when I said that. "This is why." She then went to the door and yelled outside. "Violet Jordan! You stop talking on the phone and come be with your uncle!" Violet then groaned as she walked over to our door. I then went to walk up to her and decided to give her my signature uncle Matt bear hug. I then went to steal her phone from her because I wanted some time with her. "Hey!" I then went to give it to Christie. "Here Christie, can you hold this for me during your stay?" She nodded and smiled at me. "It would be my pleasure." Violet then looked at her mom but I just stopped her and pushed her head up. "I haven't seen you in a while and you are going to spend time with your cousin Louie." Christie smiled when I did that.

"Okay, I was wrong when I said to myself that you weren't ready to be a dad to a teenage daughter." I laughed when she said that. "Violet, come in and go wash your hands." Violet then went to kick off her shoes and just went to walk away to the living room. She already had my Wi-Fi password...however I could still stop her access. Going to grab my phone, I went to shut off her access to the wifi. "Uncle Matt!" Turning to look at me, I knew she was mad. Putting my hands on my hips, I looked at her. "Your cousin is young and a member of a high-risk category of citizens because of his race. And your aunt is pregnant with twins. Go wash your hands!"

Christie laughed when I said that while also watching Violet walk away. "Okay, you are so ready to be a dad." I nodded and agreed with her before going to walk away. "By the way, today was a horrible first day as chief and honestly, I would rather not talk about it. Toxic fire and horrible day overall. Had to suspend my Lieutenant for insubordination and a lot of drama on my first day of all days." Christie nodded and agreed with me as we both made our way into the kitchen. Christie then went to wash her hands before looking at Antonio. "Can I give him a quick kiss?" I nodded and agreed before going to sit at the island. Christie then smiled at Antonio.

Turning to look at her, Antonio went to wrap his arm around her before kissing her softly. "Hey. How you feeling? I know you were scared earlier today when you were waiting for the results of your COVID test? Did you get them yet?" Overhearing that, I looked at Antonio. "Antonio...you better not be in my house with my pregnant wife and my young son if you haven't gotten that result yet! So you better tell me right now. Did you get your result yet?" That's when Gabby came downstairs and looked at Antonio, having overheard me. "Antonio, are you COVID positive?" Looking at her, I went to get up and wrapped my arms around her...scared crazy.

Antonio then turned to look at us before going to grab his phone. I was just scared out of my mind. Please let him be COVID negative. Antonio then went to check the results. "The test came back...."
