3-2 Dream Persona

He placed his hand on his thigh, palm up, then placed his own hand on the other's. He compared their hand sizes; if he didn't know any better he'd say they were growing more cliché by the second. A clock ticking, a silent sign that their moments together would end soon, yet they were outside.

The birds chirping, the sun beaming, the water from the pond flowing. Yet despite this he felt as though they had all the time in the world together, the clock went ignored, because they were still here together. Until one began to fade, they would continue to sit here and indulge in one another.

Oh...

The clock stopped, one stood and walked away. He never thought he would be the one to fade away first.

"You're here... finally here. Do you have any idea how long I've been- what's wrong?"

He didn't look at him, he was scared he'd hear the clock ticking again.

"Could it be that I'm the only one who...? Has this eternity passed only for me? I... I'm so tired of this."

Exhausted.

"This whole world is just some picture book anyway, right?" a breathy laugh, "Just like that book that changes endings every time you read it. Would you tell me? Are you... just another character in this picture book?"

Maybe he was, perhaps he was intentionally placed here for a reason, but everyone perceives things differently, right?

"I'm not sure," Sapnap responded.

"I'm not sure, either; not about anything. I can't take any more, it makes me nauseous, all I want is to be able to choose for myself... what I will do, and what I won't. It wouldn't hurt to let me have that much!" Karl cursed.

"And yet..." his hands balled into fists on the desk, his jaw clenched, "is my very existence... but a dream? In that case, I want nothing more than to tear it apart. That Façade, this place... you, too."

"I want to twist it all up. Tear it! Break it! This whole fucking world can go to hell!" he shouted.

He wanted to break him? No... that doesn't sound right.

"Ah... so that's it. I had a dream about that, I followed my impulses, denying the whole world. This entire place was wrecked, as I desired. I wasn't... myself, anymore."

The brunet looked around the library, a newfound sorrow overcoming him.

"Just like I wanted, this place was..." he visibly swallowed.

"I'm sorry," Karl wavered, "let me be, that's enough for now. If we keep this up, I'll end up hurti-"

Sapnap tensed.

"No, not yet. You're still safe, for now. I'm still myself, you see," he forced a smile, "come back soon, yea?" he choked.
