Jj, Madelyn, Pope and Kiara stayed by the dock and looked out to the water. Madelyn had her feet in the lake sitting next to aj and Pope and Kiara were behind them talking.

"how are you?" Madelyn asked the boy playing with his hat in his hands, "hopeful, hopeful that i can one day see my best friend again" Madelyn gave a soft smile and rested her head on his shoulder and he rested his on her head.

Jj and Madelyn start to hear rumbling in the sky and stand up walking over to the car. Jj stood leaning on the car with Madelyn in front of him holding her waist. the two look over to Pope and Kiara and see the two hugging and Madelyn gave a soft smile looking back at Jj.

suddenly, Pope and Kiara start to kiss and Madelyn looks back in shock, her eyes widened and she had a big smile on her face. as the two of them pulled away Madelyn held her hands up in joy.

"Finally!" she said running over to Kie and giving her a tight hug, the two girls laugh in joy and then Madelyn looks over to Jj who is looking back and let go of the girl. police sirens started to approach and Madelyn looked worried.

"guys we gotta go like right now" Jj said and the four didn't hesitate to make their way to the car. just as they were walking towards it two police cars came to a holt right in front of them and Shoupe and his deputies can out walking towards them.

Madelyn and Kie held their hands up and Jj slowly after, "Pope, Pope hands" Kie said worryingly to the boy and he slowly raised his hands to his head.

"we're to late he's gone, damn it!" Shoupe said giving Madelyn a fright as she jumped . Jj noticed how scared the girl was and stood close to her giving her a smile.

"let me talk to these kids" Shoupe said as his deputies searched the area Shoupe walked up to Madelyn and Jj, "where the hell is he!" he yelled and Madelyn took a step back.

"Jj i see your livin' up to your name" Shoupe said and Madelyn put her hands down walking up to the sheriff. before she could get to him an officer took her hands and held her tightly with her hands on her back.

"Maddie!" Jj said with worry, "this isn't a fucking game do the right thing and tell me!" Shoupe yelled and Madelyn looked at Jj then to the ground, "we don't know what you mean Shoupe" Madelyn said still looking at the ground.

"you think this is funny Madelyn Thornton? he is a killer!" Shoupe said and Madelyn started to get angry trying to break free from the hold she was in but they kept holding tighter onto her hands.

"he isn't! i was there i was shot too, it was Rafe Cameron" Madelyn looked up at Shoupe and he looked at her with disbelief, "you expect me to believe Rafe Cameron killed Peterkin and shot you?"

"yes i have a bandage over where he shot me" the sheriff saw a big spot of blood and then saw a little bit of the bandage on her skin in shock.

Shoupe and his deputies brought the four kids to the tents where they were monitoring everything and they all looked around at how there were so many people in each tents.

they directed the four to a tent and sat them on chairs, "sit down don't move, we got a lot to talk about" Shoupe said walking away towards another officer, "keep an eye on these kids" he said and walked out of the tent.
