"Yeah, they're a bunch of fancy people. They've had three governors in the family. They've run Charleston for, like, 300 years," Kie informed.
"These Kooks make our Kooks look like Pogues," JJ stared at the massive house.
"Damn, I wonder what their Pogues would look like," Aria mumbled.
"You sure this is the place, Pope?" JJ asked as Pope pulled up right in front of a big house, the biggest on the street.
"Pretty sure," Pope mumbled.
"That was convincing," Aria stated sarcastically.
"All right," JJ spoke opening his door and Pope copied his action. "Fat City, for sure,"
"Twenty-seven King Street," Pope sighed holding up the letter.
"This gate looks extremely welcoming," Aria spoke sarcastically.
"Talk about home security," JJ said in the same tone. "Are those spikes to keep people out?"
"No," Kie shook her head.
"The slave quarters are over there. These spikes were to keep people in." Pope informed as he lead them up to the front door.
"So, who's gonna knock?" Aria asked as they all stood around the front door.
"You knock," Kie told.
"Me? What- why do I have to knock? I don't want to knock, you do it," Aria said defensively.
"What are you two afraid of a door?" JJ teased.
"Okay, you made us go into a sewer you owe it to us," Aria spoke.
"Yeah, you knock," Kie agreed.
"Oh, my God. Everyone shut up, I'll knock," Pope said as he went up and knocked on the door.
"Good call," Aria sighed.
"You think that was too much?" Pope asked as he stepped back.
"It echoed the entire house. That's for sure. So they definitely heard it." JJ answered.
"Maybe nobody's home," Kie shrugged, Pope went back up the the door and knocked again.
"Good thinking Pope, maybe that will, I don't know, summon them," Aria teased but suddenly the door opened and a guy with dirty blond hair stood at the door.
The man gave a once over to the rest of the Pogues before his eyes settled on Pope. He licked his lips and pointed to the tall Pogue boy.
"You must be Pope," He stated.
"Um..." Pope looked to JJ for assistance but he just shrugged. "Are you Mr. Limbrey?"
"Ms. Limbrey was expecting you yesterday," The man scolded.
"oh. I'm... I'm sorry. My car broke down on the way up here," Pope started.
"Carburetor blew up in the middle of Nowheresville," JJ informed. "Sorry about that."
"Yeah, she was, uh, real upset when you didn't show up," The man nodded.
"We tried to call, but there's no number on the invitation. We got here as fast as we could," Kie told.
"She also expected you to come alone," The man addressed Pope, ignoring the rest.
"I mean, these are my friends. They helped find the Royal Merchant too. I-" Pope was cut off.
