"It's Very Okay Not To Know Yet."

"How's your eye?" Victor questioned making Kota cringe his hand coming up to his eye.

He would diffidently be pretty bruised up for a bit. He forgot how much of a punch Nathan packed. His glasses seemed to get the brunt of it though leaving his cheek more bruised and his glasses bent.

"It's fine," Kota replied as he turned onto Jessica's friend's street. His mom called saying she wouldn't be able to pick Jessica up. Kota easily agreed to, Victor took the opportunity to join him. "I'm more worried about what the girls are going to think when they see it..."

That was his main concern.

He and Nathan still needed to talk. He wasn't mad at Nathan, in all honesty, he felt guilty.

At the moment he really had just been trying to get James to open up during truth or dare. That was all.

She just was so hard to get a grasp on. Every moment she started to let them in it seemed a new block was up. Or he'd start to get a read on her and a flip would switch.

Don't get him wrong he knew James had come a long way since they first met. He was so proud of how much she'd shared with them this far.

Sometimes it was just hard.

That night he had enough of her avoiding him. Doing anything to try and be slick about it.

He couldn't take it any longer. Even if she didn't have feelings for him he just needed a moment alone with her.

Just a moment.

He didn't go into the closet with her planning to kiss her.

God's honest truth.

But then...then they were talking and James was looking up at him and he had blurted out how he felt about her and it was like time sped up.

At that moment it was only them.

For a moment James was in front of him and she was opening up and looking at him with those big grey eyes. She'd been rambling looking so nervous to admit that she had feelings for him.

James had feelings for him. It had seemed unreal. Someone like James and Sang could like...him.

It broke him when she admitted to avoiding him because of not wanting him to deal with her problems.

He hated that she barred so much weight on her shoulders.

In that moment Kota could have kept telling her again and again how he felt but he wasn't sure if she actually understood it.

If she was truly processing how much he cared for her. How much any of them did.

So he kissed her.

He needed to show her, he needed her to feel what he was feeling.

And god...that kiss.

Kota swallowed shifting in his seat, that kiss was everything. Guilt churned in his stomach as he recalled Nathan's words.

The girls had been through a lot. Did Kota pressure James at that moment? She had said she liked him but god she had a panic attack earlier that day.

His fingers tapped in a staccato rhythm against his leg, moving to a two-count beat.

He wasn't mad at Nathan for hitting him. Kota shouldn't have kissed James at that moment. Regret bubbled up in his chest his throat lodging slightly.
