"If you can't beat fear, just do it scared."

A week later and thank the stars the girls hadn't been called to the office again. James wasn't sure what they would do when they couldn't think of something on the spot. Last time they got lucky. What they shared wasn't big.

What if they didn't get lucky again?

And the stares from the student body were getting worse. Sang was anxious about the constant whispers from girls and the terrible looks from the teenage boys around them.

Probably wondering if they got Sang in the closet and what all she'd do to them.

The boys practically were glaring machines by now. All of them tried to tell the blonde girl not to worry about the rumors but they could all see she was thinking about it.

James was used to rumors. She'd been getting them for years. Sang was more sheltered. Having all this attention was a lot for her.

It didn't help that they were all still finding their mojo after their previous conversation admitting their feelings.

So everyone was awkward and on edge.

It didn't help that it felt like they were getting no quality time together. At lunch, the academy boys focused completely on homework.

Between their tasks with the academy, school, and the diner opening everyone's schedules were busy.

James going back to her foster home didn't help either when school ended if she wasn't working she went back home.

So far it wasn't so bad though she bickered with Veronica and Beatrice. Until her foster mother ultimately sent her to her room.

She felt like life had all been homework, school, work, sleep, repeat.

Adding in the days when the boys wanted to work with the girls on self-defense.

"I don't wanna work out," James complained. And like god blessed her a thunderstorm started outside. James chirped loudly as she and Sang headed to the gym.

Thank god they wouldn't have to go outside. Just like James expected their gym teachers explained that the groups could play basketball indoors or talk.

James happily found her way to Gabe and Nathan. Even this little bit of downtime felt like heaven. Sang and the others were shaking their heads at the red-headed girl but James waved them off.

"I'm telling you I have powers," James said interrupting Nathan.

"James you don't." Nathan looked at her comically like her having powers wasn't even probable.

"...she did say all day she didn't want to go to gym," Gabe spoke in her favor and James threw herself at him. He looked pleased at this, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "I believe she's magic."

"James did not cause the thunderstorm." Sang giggled but jumped as it thundered louder outside.

James perused her lips, throwing her arms open wide. The others shared a glance and James bowed. "The rain and I are one. Always falling but never landing."

"Rain...lands in puddles..." Nathan said slowly looking confused at the girl's logic.

"Technically rain lands everywhere." Sang corrected and Nathan shook his head at her.

"You're starting to sound like Kota."

"You mean right?" Sang sassed, and both Gabe and James laughed. One of her favorite parts of their ever-growing friendship was the growth in Sang. She was becoming so much more comfortable in talking and sassing the guys.
