"We repeat what we don't repair."Friday
James opened her eyes as she heard a slight knock at the door, she bit her lip debating on her answer when the door cracked open.
"James are you awake?" Owen's voice was soft as he called into the room, "What the-where are you?"
James flushed feeling embarrassed from her spot underneath her bed. She watched as the door opened further a pair of black socks moving closer to her.
"James?" His voice was slightly panicked making her feel guilty.
"I'm down here," She called voice light. His movement's stopped she couldn't help the blush that crept across her cheeks as she watched him lower down to his knees his head dipping down to look underneath the bed.
"What in the world," He whispered his hair was slightly mused still from sleep. His glasses tipping off his nose slightly as he leaned down to glance at her. "Why are you under the bed?"
He sounded exasperated making her feel even more embarrassed. James pulled the blanket further up towards her chin in hopes to hide her face.
"Why aren't you under the bed?" She shot back.
Owen's lips twitched up amused as he moved so he was laying down as close to her as he could get without being underneath the bed. "I'm afraid if I attempted that I would get stuck, I'm not as small as you..."
"I noticed," She murmured eyeing his muscles in the black v-neck he was wearing. A pair of grey sweatpants on his hips. It was odd seeing Owen so dressed down, away from his suits.
She was used to him always dressing the best, holding the upmost standard for himself.
But James knew better than anyone that no one could ever truly be perfect.
It didn't matter how hard you tried or how you held yourself.
Still, it was odd seeing the man looking so...out of element.
"I wanted to apologize for my actions yesterday...I'm afraid they were rather inappropriate."
James blinked at him a few times, he was apologizing to her? "Your apologizing...Owen, how can I be upset with you for being human? For showing your emotions? I want to know when you're upset when you're angry-"
"I shouldn't have raised my tone with you," he murmured looking tired, his face steel but his eyes. She could always tell with his eyes..."I shouldn't have said you were being idiotic, it was wrong of me to be so aggressive."
"Darling we both got heated in that argument, there's no need to take all of the blame."
"We had a plan-I've been handling the plan but then Sang had to kneel in rice. Then you were kept home I didn't know if-" He closed his eyes taking in a sharp breath.
James's heart went out to him, he was only night-teen and expected so much of himself. Too much of himself. She didn't know what his past was like but she saw his present.
The brother who needed control who looked after the others. He had to hold his head high because he always had to be ready to take charge. He was the team leader, the boss within the academy.
He had to make quick decisions and he never had anyone to look to for guidelines he was the guide.
James was just one person and she questioned every little thing she did. Every action, every word spoke, every thought.
