Tremaine POV

"You okay?" I asked Soleil as she was in the bathroom mirror, finishing getting dressed.

"Yeah.." She said.

"No you not, at all. What's going on?" I asked, she sighed and turned around to face me.

"I'm just.. Going to see my mom and check on her progress. I don't know what to expect" She said.

"You nervous?" I asked.

"Nah, I just don't know what to expect. Last time I went, Desireè was there getting her out and my mom betrayed me. You know? Only proving she will always love Desireè more than me. So... Going to see her now, I'm just trying to prepare for whatever" Soleil said.

"Yeah I understand but lemme tell you something aight?" I said and she nodded her head.

"You're doing all you can do, and if she can't appreciate that then there's nothing more you can do baby." I said, she sighed.

"Yeah, I know.. No matter how hard I try." She said.

"You need me to go with you?" I asked her

"Nah it's okay, it's gone be like an hour. Depending on what's going on." Soleil said.

"Okay, well in that case, while you gone I'll probably run a few errands with my brothers." I said to her.

Just O'Shea and Travon. Definitely not Jeremiah.

"Oh, okay.. Be safe baby." Soleil said rubbing her face and I scrunched my eyebrows.

"I will but.. What else is going on in your head?" I asked.

"Tremaine can I ask you something?" Soleil asked me.

"You already know" I said.

"What... What makes you love me so much? What makes you want me around?" She asked and I scrunched my eyebrows.

"Why you asking me something like that?" I asked.

"Just answer please" She said.

"Because of the woman you are. You wanna know what you are?" I asked and she nodded her head.

"You're strong, you're motivated, you have the most genuine spirit and the most giving spirit I've ever seen in a person. Look at what you're about to do, you're about to go help the person who hurt you the most in your life. And on top of that, you're beautiful, inside and out, you're grounded and stand on what you say. You work hard as fuck, I wake up in the middle of night and see you on your laptop on Microsoft word writing and writing, working on your craft. You have drive. And, you love ME. Through all my shit. Riding and riding with no complaints. Loving me unconditionally, that's a feeling I ain't ever felt from no other woman I ever been involved with. A nigga been 100 times happier since you've been around. I ain't letting that go." I said and she looked at me for a second.

"That means so much to me.. Thank you baby" She said before looking down.

I grabbed her chin and made her look up at me.

"Now why you ask me that?" I asked.

"Sometimes I just.. I don't know. Growing up I was always unsure if I would ever have a stable relationship" Soleil said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because.. I always felt like, if my mom never wanted me... Why would someone else want-" She started off before she looked down and a tear fell out of her face.

"Mookie, come here" I said pulling her in for a hug and she hugged me back.

I kissed her cheek over and over while holding her and I said "You got a list of people that abandoned you in your life but I ain't gone be one of them. I'm here, and I got you. I know you got me too"
