"I'm so confused," Jane said. "He's a witch, and a Star Child?"
"Apparently," Eric shrugged. He was just glad to see Reggie happy. He hadn't seen him that happy in a long time. "I mean, his scent is pretty similar to Dad's, so I'm not surprised."
"What is a Star Child, though?" she asked. "I haven't heard a single thing about them in all my journeys."
"They were thought to be extinct," Alistair explained. He was walking with them in the forest at the moment. "Wiped out a long time ago. But there are a few that are still around. They are good-natured beings of all kinds of races and genders. While their abilities vary, and most are not as strong as others, they bring joy and goodness to all those around them."
"Yeah, something like that," Eric said. "All I know is that he's pretty nice."
It was nice seeing him again after Reggie told him what they were. He seemed to be a little shy towards most of them, and usually looked at Reggie for support, but he warmed up easily to all of them. He could tell that it was going to be so much fun with him around.
"And he's who the hunters were after," Jane wondered out loud. "I'm curious what they want with him."
"Supernatural hunters could simply kill to kill," Eric said.
"But that doesn't explain why there's so many of them," she said. "For just one witch that doesn't even know who he is, I don't know why they would have as many as gamma Ed noted."
"Where stars shine," Alistair budded into their conversation, "Darkness always looms. We'll find the answer in time. For now, we must get to work."
Eric shook his head. Leave it to Alistair to always be poetic about stuff. He didn't know how he did it. He could never make something sound as poetic as Alistair could, or anyone for that matter. He didn't know how he was going to give speeches if he became Alpha. That was one issue that he was still trying to work on.
The albino was right, though. They needed to get to work, before the sun went down. After hearing how much Sage wanted his grandmother's ashes, Eric volunteered to get them. It was the best way to get him to trust them, and he really wanted to see this little hut that everyone was talking about. It was in their territory all along, but it was so hidden behind dense trees that no one had even gotten a hint of it being there until they caught onto Sage's scent.
Now it was time to see if they could find it again. Ed had decided go with them to look, along with a few of the warriors that had been there the night before. But Alistair had convinced them to let Jane come too, since she was the first one to witness the hunters.
They all changed to their wolf forms and ran through the trees. He loved running beside people, especially Jane. He was faster than her, but she kept a good pace next to him. Her wolf was gray. It shimmered in the sunlight that peaked through the trees. It really was a great day to go for a run anyway. And, since Reggie and the rest were busy trying to learn as much as they could off from their new guest, it was the perfect time to search through the trees that they all called home.
"I just thought of something," Eric mind linked with Jane. She wasn't entirely used to it yet, but she was catching onto it fast. The warrior link was really easy for her to do, which surprised many warriors. That was usually the last thing that a warrior got the hang of. It took Alistair forever to when he was first being trained.
"What?" she asked.
"Martha's going to be so shocked about all of this," Eric told her. He would be smiling, if he could. "We're going to have to tell her when we get back that we now have the grandson of the woman that saved her life all those years ago."
