He had never seen a vampire fall so quickly than when he saw Snake almost die. Vampires don't normally die from flesh wounds. They have to be burnt, lest their body find some way to regenerate. That's what he had learned while he was researching vampires. Jane helped a lot with that too, actually.

And right now, they were a great team.

"One casualty, no deaths," she mind linked with him. "So far we're doing good. But I haven't seen that leader at all."

"That's okay," he told her. "Just take care of his followers. He's not going to leave empty handed."

If he was going to do something like that, he would have run out of town already. This leader was bound and determined to take his targets. And Eric was bound and determined to bury him in the ground. Out of all the enemies that they've had, there hasn't been one that was as much of a headache as this one.

"Reggie," he stretched the mind link out to him. "How's home going?"

"Good," he responded. "All hunters are gone. I'm sending half over to your side, and keeping half here just in case more show up."

"Good idea," he cut off the mind link. He was going to ask about Dad or Sage, but he knew that if something bad had happened to them, Reggie would let him know. The stories would be saved for when this was all over.

Reggie and him trained together all the time. They were each other's equal through and through. Even though an Alpha was supposed to be skilled in all forms of combat, there was always one that was their specialty, no matter how much they trained. For Reggie, that was defense. He could take any blow with ease and still have enough energy to deal one back. He had shocked many of the elders. The Locke family had been known for being skilled at front line attack. It allowed them to be right in the front, leading their men into battle. Reggie took a different approach when battling.

And, while he specialized in defense, Eric took the role for offense. It was easy to lead all the warriors that he had with him. With the warrior link, he was able to put them in the right formation. It was as if he was seeing a map of everything in his head. He knew where the hunters attacking were, as well as the warriors that were having to stray off the group in order to make sure that none got away. It was through that he was able to give out the right orders.

The reason why they didn't have many casualties this time was because of that. Whenever one warrior would have to go off the set path, he would order two or three more to follow them. He knew these hunters plans. They wanted to divide them and kill them when they were alone. It was easy to see the pattern after a few times of them attempting it.

They were winning. He knew that they could. He had trained with these men and women his whole life. He knew that they were capable of anything they set their minds to, and he made sure to tell them that before they left. They didn't win wars like this without working together, and that's exactly what they did.

Now they just had to find the leader. He disappeared after he attacked Snake. He got there just in time to get him out of harms way. He couldn't chase him like he had wanted to then, though. Jane was right in that. Winning one battle wasn't worth the death of someone.

But Eric was going to win this battle. He was going to end this once and for all.

He raced past the warzone. Past all the bushes and trees. There was one place that he knew the hunter would be going, and it wasn't going to be that battle field. He was going to get his targets.

With two tunnel entrances blocked off, he raced around to another one that was close by. Reggie had told him where all the exits were that they had found. There weren't many, but he remembered one that was a little bit away from where the battle was raging.
