"I don't think this is a good idea," Max shook his head.

"Even with so many coming with us?" he asked.

"Do you know how much havoc they caused even with there being so many of us?"

"The only times those hunters showed up was when there was only one or two people guarding," he told him. "I doubt they will if we have our best warriors."

"Charlie," Max sighed and ran his hands through his hair. "I hate when you do this."

It wasn't the smartest thing, he would admit that. This was probably the dumbest thing he's begged Max for in a long time. He should just stay inside like he had been the past couple weeks and wait all of this out. That would be the smart thing.

But, even with Sasha around all the time and all the work that he was still doing, he was going to lose his mind if he didn't go outside at least once. And he had been far too curious about this little hut that Sage came from. Something about it piqued his interest more than anything else. In all of his research, he hadn't found a single record of someone living in the forest other than a thousand years ago when the Orion Pack was around. With all else that they were finding out, and all the strangers and unknown that was now surrounding the woods that they all called home, this hut could have the answers they needed to solve this mystery.

"Max," Charlie sighed. "Not only will going there finally give us some answers, but it could put an end to Sage wanting to leave and almost getting himself killed."

That was another thing that he was worried about. What happened just a week ago was the second time that he had ran from them. Max and Charlie weren't trying to hold him against his will, but it didn't help when there were so many people that wanted to try and kill him. Sage was skittish. He didn't feel like this was his home, so he tried to run whenever he felt like he wasn't welcomed there. Even though the hut was dangerous, and he had almost gotten killed there the first time, that was the place that Sage called home.

So, the plan was to go with him to the hut and see what it was all about. They could take one of the Jeeps so that he could bring anything he wanted to back, and Sage could try to make peace with his grandmother.

"I'm not saying that, Charlie," Max looked at him. "We were going to have to let him go back there eventually anyway. I knew that from the moment we brought him here and he started running from us."

"Then why are we arguing?" He smiled. "Let's plan a day trip. I'm sure that Sage is going to love hearing about this."

"We're arguing," Max stopped him from walking away. "Because as much as I'm okay with Sage coming along, there's one person I'd rather not risk."

"Who?" he asked.

"You, Charlie," Max's face fell into one of worry. "Do you know how important you are to this pack? To me? If something happens to you while we're out there, I wouldn't know what to do with myself."

"I'll be fine, Max," he assured him. "We haven't seen these hunters for a week now."

"That's too soon to tell," his husband told him. "You need to be kept safe, Apple. I don't want to make the mistake of letting you out there."

He understood what he was saying. Everyone was still worried about him after what happened with the vampire. There was always at least one person who would be by his side or in the same room with him no matter what time of day.

And an Alphas greatest weakness is their Luna.

Charlie walked up to Max and hugged him. It was easy for the man to wrap his arms around him. It was like breathing for them, to be this close all the time.
