"You have no idea," he lit a torch. "Just how annoying it was trying to find it."

"I don't even know how you can find those hunters so easily," Eric shook his head. "We can never find them."

"It helps that I never stopped following them until just today," Snake said. He was right on their tail the moment that he realized they got one of them. It was the last thing he wanted to have happen. That was the whole reason he sent the telepathic message to Charlie in the first place. He had followed them through the tunnels, trying to find the nest. He didn't think that they could have gotten in, but Max was right. There was a hole in the tunnels that led to the outside. As soon as he found that, he realized that they must have been using them as a means of keeping hidden from everyone.

It didn't take long for him to realize who they were targeting. He saw Charlie looking out with Max in the window. Just like he saw the hunter with a bow and arrow aimed right at him. He was thankful that the man moved, even though it didn't seem like he knew that it was Snake talking.

He could have tried to send a message straight to the Alpha. But it was always so much more difficult with werewolves. They had their own telepathy through their packs. If he tried to send one message, it could easily get picked up by that whole pack. Then he'd have more of them pissed off than before. Not to mention it was just faster messaging Charlie since he was another telepath.

He thought that he had done a good job at alerting them when they were there, but it wasn't enough. He felt right when it happened. That was the moment when he saw one of the hunter's bows get brighter. He knew right then what had happened and that he couldn't stop that arrow. It wasn't Sage, he thanked whatever god would hear him that it wasn't, but he couldn't have Charlie die either.

Glinda was worried that something like this would happen. She told him that she had been having nightmares lately of those hunters. Only, hers were of them hurting Sage. He knew that her dreams were often true. She was a clairvoyant. She could see glimpses of the future. But even those dreams weren't set in stone.

Nothing was, no matter how hard you tried to make it.

He had been too worried about Sage, he hadn't thought to keep an eye on Charlie. Relying on that pack wasn't enough when it came to these hunters. They had no experience with them.

He almost froze in fear when he saw the arrow go straight for that kid, though. He knew both of his parents, and watched him grow up into the adult he was today. He wasn't related to him by blood, but he still considered him his nephew. And he practically raised him throughout most of his teenage years.

Snake thought that everything would be alright after he saw him dodge the blow. It wasn't until he saw the bow of that hunter light up that he realized he was sadly mistaken. The hunter was so giddy with his shot that he ran away from the fight, attempting to save the weapon from their claws.

He followed those hunters, killing as many as he could, until he finally got to the one with the bow. That was when he realized that he hadn't gotten the whole soul. He knew that Sage had tried to heal Charlie through Glinda and Dakota. They stayed behind to try and figure out their next move.

The spell wasn't something that they've ever been able to perform before. Glinda had made it to try and save some of the ones who were dying from the enemies of the forest. But they would die before they even got the chance to return their souls to them. This was the only chance they had, and he could already tell that they were running out of time.

"Through here," he motioned him to turn a corner.

"Wow," Eric said. "You really can travel pretty fast through here."
