They growled and immediately went into protective stances. It was good to know that they were so protective of their mates, he would give them all that. He was proud of this pack. Even though they had decided to venture all the way out here, where they could have easily run into an enemy, they decided to do it with some extra guard around them. Sage had probably wanted to visit his home again.
"Snake?" Sage looked over the man that he assumed was Reggie. "What are you doing here?"
"I was just about to ask that," the Alpha said. "Aren't you not supposed to go into houses unless you were invited in?" Everything about the man screamed anger and attack. He held onto his mate tightly, keeping him behind him.
"I've been allowed in before," he told him. "The only thing stopping me was the garlic, thank you. Agatha was great at making the strongest kind of plants possible."
"Wait," Sage furrowed his eyebrows. "You've never been here, though. I would have remembered."
"That's because it was way before you were born," he couldn't help but soften whenever he talked to the boy. He had gotten too close to him when he was in the charter school. "The Vanett family has welcomed me to their house for generations."
"Why?" he turned to see the albino man speaking up. He had a low voice, much like his father.
It was horrible how that turned out.
"Because of a pact that was made a thousand years ago or so," he answered truthfully.
"Wait," Sage's eyes got wide. "You were a part of the pact?!"
"Now you're getting it," he smirked. Then he looked at Charlie. "The Vanett family were part of the coven of witches that were here long ago. They were the only ones that were allowed to stay, due to their vow to protect Oriana."
"Oriana?"
"The forest spirit," he explained better. "Every forest has them. Oriana just so happened to be one of the strongest."
"Oriana," the albino whispered. "Why does that name sound familiar?"
"Perhaps that's an answer best saved for later," he frowned. "I'm not exactly the best person for that one."
"What do you mean?" he looked at him curiously.
Snake sighed. They weren't going to get anywhere if he was going to get bombarded with questions like these. Sure, he knew a lot, but there was only so much information that the average being could handle all at once. Sage could typically handle a lot. He was a smart kid. Agatha had been able to teach him a lot while she was raising him. But the rest he wasn't so sure about.
"If you're going to show up unannounced, I'd at least expect some answers," the Alpha growled.
"And I was giving you answers," he told him. "But Glinda is more prepared to answer that question."
"Why not you?"
"Because I wasn't Iliana's guardian," Snake frowned.
"You mean my mother?" Alistair was a strange werewolf. He must have gotten his calm demeanor from his mother. She was always the type to never judge someone until she spoke to them first. Listening to the spirits around her for guidance helped her judge someone.
"Yes," Snake sighed, taking a seat on one of the chairs. "She was a clairvoyant, and a strong one at that."
"I remember," Alistair said. "But how do you know of her?"
"Your mother didn't judge anyone until she talked to them," he told him. "It was a good trait to have, although she didn't exactly have the strength to defend herself in case something went awry. I met her a long time ago, before she even found her mate and had you. She was one of the strongest Star Children of her generation."

Romance"So," he said. "Let me get this straight: You're a werewolf?" "Yes." "Who lives with a group of other werewolves?" "Yes." "And you all have normal everyday lives that you go and do along with running around as wolves?" "I mean," Reggie put his hand...
