25. Institute Issue

Danse POV

".... this... is disgusting...

(Y/N) complained, looking down into the murky river water,

"Sturges said that sewer pipe is our way in... sadly..."

She pointed to a grate,

"There are worse places to go."

I tried to reassure,

She gave me a look that said she didnt believe me before she jumped in.

I hesitantly jumped in after her.

The water was so dark and murky I couldnt see what was infront of me...

I could just make out (Y/N) opening the gate and we both swam through.

I got out first, my armour shiny from the water.

I leaned down to help (Y/N) out after me.

"I... I am never doing that again!"

She puffed, standing up and ringing the water out her clothes.

There was a keypad on the wall and (Y/N) went straight towards it,

She typed in something then flipped a switch and another gate opened beside us.

We both swam through quickly

We fought our way through some mounted guns and turrets,

Swam through more grates and sewer pipes,

Took out a few synths until eventually

"HHHHH-YA!"

(Y/N) kicked down an old rusted door,

It was such a crisp white inside the room it hurt my eyes...

(Y/N) blinked a few times to get used to the bright colour before moving on,

She walked to a lone terminal shoved in a holotape, typed in something and then--

There was a blinding blue light form the room beside us and then!

"Man that was something else!"

Preston followed by Sturges and a large group of minutemen came out of the room,

"I guess I'm still in one piece!"

He said checking to make sure he didnt loose any limbs,

He looked back at all the minutemen,

"Everyone ok...?"

Everyone nodded,

"Good. So this is the institute. They could have just held out down here forever. Why did they have to mess with us?"

(Y/N) nodded in agreement,

"They think they're better then us."

"They should have read their history. That hasn't ever turned out well. In any case, here we are. No turning back now... you're going to need this-"

He handed (Y/N) something,

"Its a Fusion Pulse Grenade, once its attached to the reactor it can detonate remotely. Get that on the reactor and we can destroy everything the institute has ever built. Just make sure we give the civilians a chance to escape, we're not here to commit mass murder. We better hurry, they're going to realize what's going on before too long."

(Y/N) gave him a nod, but I looked at him worridly...

Sturges reassured us that the teleporter would still be working by the time we got back, he had built an exact replica of the one at the Brotherhoods base thanks to the blue prints (Y/N) kept with her.
