In this story, a person can get the Hanahaki disease if they think the person they love doesn't love them back. It is both a mental and a respiratory disease, rooted in both the mind and the lungs.

It causes flowers to appear in someone's lungs, causing them to cough up flowers when the person they love doesn't love them back, increasing in severity until they die. 

The ways to cure it are to either fall out of love, fall in love with someone else, or to have the person you are in love with love you back

Only some people can get the Hanahaki disease. It is very rare and only affects a miniscule amount of the population.

Other than the Hanahaki disease, there is nothing else supernatural (no curses, ghosts, powers).
