A LIE AT THE BEACH

Chapter 9: Athens.

I know this is pretty intimate and that we may be moving faster than average but I don't mind at all which scares me. I mean we've only known each other for a month but that's something...right?

Well, right now we have arrived at the place that has currently stolen my heart. "This is so beautiful..." I say while turning to look at Sidney. He looks at me with his bright eyes "Well...thanks. I usually come here when I'm bored and to be honest it's so much better in the summer. That's why I brought you here...." he says while scratching the back of his neck with a small smile on his full lips. This would be a perfect clichè moment to kiss but hey, we're not at that level yet. "That's so sweet of you." I tell him genuinely and we stare a little until I clear my throat.

"Hey, why don't we sit down.." "Yeah we should." He replies and we lay down the picnic cloth. We put the baskets on it and we sit too. We look towards the lake ahead of us. "It looks so beautiful and calm." I say. Shit Athens obviously, I mentally smack my forehead. I don't know why I'm nervous yet we were shouting in the car before without a care in the world. I breathe in and out slowly when Sid isn't looking. He hums in response and I feel his stare at the side of my face. Oh sweet baby Jesus did I wear ugly earrings or do I have a pimple on the side of my face...fuck did the pimple that was there last week vanish or seated staring back at him. I hear him softly chuckle.

"You're cute when you get self-conscious." he remarks with a smirk. My cheeks heat up and I look towards the lake to hide my blush.

"You're beautiful, Athens" Sid adds.

Is he teasing me now? Once again my cheeks turn red "Um thanks." He nods with a smile and I smile back. "I'm starving....can we um eat?" I tell Sid. Looks like I'm getting back my cool haaa."Yeah, I'll put out the food." Sid says simply. As he puts out the food, my stomach growls and he smirks. This day can't get any worse...c'mon god of dates asin? I blush in embarrassment but the more embarrassing moment is when Sid increases his speed of unpacking the food like he needs to rescue me. Some would find that cute but bro, that's embarrassing for me. I just sit quietly and ask if I can help serve the food but he swats my hands away saying he wants to serve what he cooked. Very funny. I start taking pictures of the surrounding with my small Canon camera.

"Okay it's time to feast."

I've never shoved my phone away faster. What? Like I was kidding when I said I was starving pfft. "Wow...you made all this?" I ask as I look at the fresh tacos, pizza, fries, baked chicken, strawberry icecream and black forest cake. "Unhaa." He replies smoothly. I feel like hugging the life out of him. "I'm not for sale, baby." He says with a cocky smirk and I realize I said that out loud. I groan inwardly.

"Hey, the food's getting cold. " I say as I serve myself chicken and fries for starters. Sid serves himself tacos and I don't judge...maybe he's on a diet? I don't know but wow this food is good. I hold myself back from groaning when the salty taste of the fries hits my tongue. We eat in peaceful and comfortable silence. I eat some tacos too. Everything I've eaten is so tasty. A guy that can cook, yes please!

It's time for dessert and Sid hands me an icecream spoon which I politely accept with a thanks. I serve myself two scoops since I need to taste the cake too before I get so full. I'm a foodie...yes, I accept it. "Did you make this icecream, Sid?"   "Yes, actually my sister helped make it." He says with a pink tinge on his cheeks. Aw so cute. "This is awesome. If I had more space in my tummy, I'd definitely eat more goddamn." Sid laughs at that....it's a nice sound when he laughs. I simply shrug. "How's your sister though?"   "She's fine...planning to go to New York for a while."    "Oh that's cool....and your mum?"    "She's fine and she keeps asking me about you...I guess she liked you from the first time she saw you." Sid says with an amused smile.

"Oh..."

I lack what to say to that for sure.  "That's sweet of her. Send my greetings to her when you get back home...your sister too." I reply.

"Alright....hey, did you know the water's safe and warm around this time?" Sid says with a mischievous grin and I stand up slowly fearing his next motive. I run away from him and he begins to chase me while laughing. "Come back here lady."   "No way, sir." I mock him while running further. I can't help but laugh along with Sid when he swiftly gets a hold of me and threatens to throw me in the water. "Noooo please don't...I mean I dunno how deep this lake is." Sid rolls his eyes and says "Oh please, even a fifteen year old can swim here."   "But I've no swimsuit..."  "You can wear my shirt, I've more in the car." Oh fuck it.

"Okay hand it over." I say with a little attitude. "Be more polite and I'll give it." He says smirking knowing how irritated I am. "Please hand over your shirt so I can change and go swimming." He just smiles and shakes his head then throws the shirt at me. I glare at him and he blows me a kiss like a ten year old. I change and we both dive into the lake.
