We've made one month in this relationship and today is our anniversary.
Mum and the rest are aware and are genuinely happy for Sid and I. Mum and aunt Jolly have invited Sid over for dinner to get to know him and he is nervous as hell. He doesn't even know what to wear. I slept over at his place and let me tell you, we had a long night. I'm sore in places I even didn't know about but it was all worth it. Mere thinking about it brings me goosebumps. Ugh.
Right now, I'm cooking in the kitchen with mum, aunt Jolly and Jill. Uncle and Jordan went out to buy more groceries for the dinner with Sid. I'm so excited he's coming over and I hope these guys don't bombard him with uncomfortable questions but knowing my mum, she's gonna bring out all the guns. I hope Sidney can withstand for my sake. "Hey. What are you thinking about?" Jill nudges me slowly. "Just worried that mum will act too protective since you know...what happened with Mike." I say honestly. "Don't worry. I'm sure Sidney can handle himself. At least he'll try to for your sake." Jill encourages and I nod while calming down as I continue to chop vegetables. I remember how mum tortured me with questions when I told her I'm dating Sid. She said she was just making sure I don't end up with someone like Mike so she made sure to invite Sid over whatever chance she could get and finally Sid gets to come over tonight. I finish chopping the veggies and go to my room to call and check on how Sid's doing. He picks up on first ring. "Hey. I'm really freaking out right now, A. What if your mom doesn't like me? What if she thinks I'm like your ex? I don't know what I'm going to do if she doesn't approve of me." He rants. "Sid. Sid, relax. It's gonna be okay. I'll be here seated next to you and when mum becomes too much, I'll intervene. It's going to be just fine so calm down." I say to him through the phone. "Alright. If you say so. I'll definitely try my best to please her though." "Sid, just be you and I'm sure everything will turn out great. You're a great person and everyone will love you automatically." "I hope so, babe." He says and continues "Anyways, what should I wear?" "Anything that makes you comfortable...but to be of more help, you can wear a dress shirt and slacks for formality and you know, first impression." I contribute. "Well, catch you later. Gotta clean myself up." "Bye then." "Bye babe." I end the call.I don't realise that I slept off until I feel someone tap me as I turn over in protest but the tapping doesn't stop. "What?" I ask angrily. The person chuckles "Girl, wake up. Sid is on his way I'm sure. It's coming to dinner time." Now I realise it's Jill and uh oh I'm not ready for the dinner at all. Damn it. I squeak and jump out of bed running to the bathroom as Jill laughs uncontrollably. "Shut up, Jill." I shout from the bathroom. "Woah he's here. I just heard the car outside." Jill shouts as I rush out of the bathroom. "For real?" I ask agitated. "Huh?" Jill acts innocent like she has no idea what I'm talking about. "Oh you! I'll kill you." I chase her out of my room as she continues to laugh. I wear a blue dress with folds at the front and it's silky behind and it stops at my knees. I wear flats for shoes and do a little makeup. I put my hair in a sleek ponytail for a change and I hope Sid will like it. I finish up and head downstairs where every one is dressed up and arranging the dinner table.
"Took you long enough." mum announces from the kitchen to me.
"You look beautiful too, mum." I say with a small laugh. "Not sure for who though." I add with a smirk and she gasps and replies "Excuse you. My man's coming too." She dramatically flips her hair and I laugh so hard. My mum is a dramaqueen. I'm still laughing until I stop abruplty when it hits home. "Hold on, dad's coming today, mum?" I ask to check if she was serious and she screams back "Yes, dear." Yeyy dad's coming. I'm happy he's finally coming and I get to see him after what two months? But Sid is going to be double-on-edge. Should I warn him in advance. Yes. I walk towards the secluded area in the hallways and call him. "Hey babe, you good?" "Uh yeah I guess. I'm on my way there." He says with confidence but I can tell that he's on edge and I don't think it's wise to tell him until he gets here. "Cool. I was just checking on you." I say which is true. "Thanks. See you in a few minutes sweet cheeks." "See yah." I walk back to the kitchen and help set up stuff for the dinner and when everything is done, I go to Jill's room for some company.
