The sun was rising over Route 101, as Lucas threw around a few toys for Torchic to play with, a plush Pokeball attached to some string. Torchic chased it relentlessly even if it moved an inch and would pounce all over the tent trying desperately to catch it in its claws. It was akin to a cat darting after a laser pointer, and Lucas found good entertainment in watching Torchic go wild as the Pokeball flew about. Just then, a text message pinged on his phone. He picked it up, finding it to be a worried text from her mother.

Just checking in sweetie to make sure you're doing ok xx

He smiled as he messaged back that he was ok, and that he would text her when they were back in Oldale. As he sent the message, Torchic abruptly jumped at his hand, ripping the stick out of his grip. Torchic tumbled towards the side of the tent, bashing against the zipped entrance.

"MEEP-", cried something from outside. Then, it was followed by the rustling of grass outside, like something was getting up from the floor. Lucas set his phone down, carefully crawling to the entrance of the tent, slowly unzipping it. The tent unzipped, and on the grass lay; another Torchic?

It was sitting casually in the grass in front of the tent, seeming to have been watching Lucas and Torchic playing through the tent. Although, it was extremely odd to see another Torchic in this area. They weren't indigenous to this Route, not to mention their sheer rarity. Even some trainers who had searched for someone like Torchic for years had yet to encounter one. There was no sort of trainer in sight that might own it, either, only adding to Lucas' confusion. But, he figured luck just may be on his side.

"Maybe I do have a connection with Torchics after all.", he said, as he rubbed the wild Pokemon's head softly, "Are you lost, little one?"

Torchic quickly jumped back, away from Lucas as soon as he came close. It watched Lucas, cautious of what he might do, but Lucas simply smiled.

"It's okay. I won't bite.", he said again, his warm smile being enough to convince Torchic to come back. The Torchic wandered up to his hand and brushed its beak against its hand. Lucas smiled as the Torchic seemed to come close to trusting him already. Torchic's stomach growled loudly, and Lucas snapped his fingers, looking down.

"Just wait a second.", he said with a smile, disappearing into the tent. He rustled through his bag, bringing out a bag of Sitrus Berries, as well as a Pokeball. Gently, the Sitrus Berries fell to the floor, the Wild Torchic bending down to slowly peck away at the food. Then, it looked up, to see Lucas holding an empty Pokeball. The wild Torchic looked on in horror as its anxious eyes gazed upon the Pokeball. Lucas looked at Torchic, smiling, slowly going to press the Pokeball against its head.

"Well, you'll probably need to-"

Before Lucas could even finish his sentence, the wild Torchic had already run up and bit the hand holding the Pokeball. Lucas screamed out in pain and quickly flung the Torchic away from his hand, the Pokemon skirting across the grass. Luckily, there were nothing more than some teeth marks and red spots on his skin, but it still felt like Lucas's hand had been set on fire.

"What in Arceus's name is wrong with you?", Lucas exclaimed, his cheeks turning red with anger. The Torchic barked at him, unlike his own Torchic's cry. But, regardless, he wasn't about to let the Pokemon get away without a fight. Lucas looked to his side, at his own Torchic,

"Torchic, get ready to fight.", Lucas said as his partner ran across the plains and stared down at its wild counterpart. He had expected a fight, but almost instantly, the wild Torchic began to run away, turning tail. But, Lucas wasn't quite letting it get away with just attacking him and then leaving,

"Ember, while it's open in the air!", Lucas yelled, while Torchic puffed up its chest and unloaded a relatively weak Ember, finding uncomfortability in being forced to fight one of its own. But still, even the relatively weak attack caused a critical strike on the wild Pokemon's torso. The Torchic squealed with pain, but in a voice that was unfamiliar to Lucas, and unlike any cry Lucas had heard his Torchic make. The Torchic fell to the ground, and a strange blue aura suddenly overcame its body, and it started morphing into something else. It sprouted out two more legs and sat on all fours, showing off its black and red fur coat. Two black ears, red fur coming out of the top of its head, and cyan eyes. Lucas had never seen anything like it, being mesmerized by how it had just transformed instantly. He grabbed his Pokedex from his bag, scanning the creature.
